Automatically Clear Red Lion HMI Event Viewer Events - Graphite G09 Time Period Solution

Question:

I have been struggling to find a solution for automatically clearing the event viewer on a Graphite G09 after a specific time period. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve this? Additionally, I am encountering a recurring issue with the internal clock and alarm system on all of my Red Lion HMIs. The clock consistently falls behind the set time by an hour. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

To optimize your industrial processes, consider utilizing the ClearEvents() command in the Scripting language. It is important to specify the version of Crimson software you are using. The Reference Manual for Crimson® 3.1, which contains a comprehensive list of commands, can be found at www.redlion.net. Additionally, explore the newest features and enhancements in Crimson 3.1 software by accessing Red Lion's revision history on the website. For assistance with the clock settings, check the Timezone and Daylight savings options for potential solutions. Visit the bottom of the page for more information.

I am currently using software version 3.1. To set up the clock on my device, I have utilized a Time and Date Primitive and configured it as a data entry. However, there seems to be a discrepancy in the time displayed by the clock. Despite setting the internal clock to 6/28/2024 8:30 AM, the time shown on the alarm viewer appears to be around 7:10 AM. I have made sure that the time manager is enabled, while the time server SNTP, time client, and time source are all disabled, with the time zone set to local. Additionally, the alarm viewer is set to display time in a 12-hour (civil) format. Regarding the ClearEvents() command, I am unsure where to input this script. I have not been able to locate a suitable place within the event viewer primitive.

Are your historical dates incorrect in Redlion's Crimson software? Updating firmware to the latest version can help resolve this issue. You do not need to place the script in the primitive; instead, consider setting up a Tag trigger to clear Event History after a specific time period. For more information on managing time in Crimson, refer to Redlion's guide here: https://support.redlion.net/hc/en-us/articles/360016367932-Working-with-Time-in-Crimson. This resource also explains how to schedule tasks using Triggers for Tags.

It appears that the dates and times in the alarm/event viewer on my device are not reflecting the changes I make to the Time/Date Primitive setting. I attempted to send the time via crimson, but it did not affect the date or time displayed. I will attempt to resolve this issue by updating the firmware. Additionally, I now understand how to clear the event history, which was previously unclear to me. Thank you for providing the solution.

One aspect that I am unclear about is the event clear function. In the example provided with the red lion code, specifically, GetHour(GetNow()) ==5, this will activate a trigger at midnight. What does the ==5 signify in this script exactly? My goal is to automatically clear events after a 3-day period. Therefore, I presume the script should involve something like GetDay(GetNow) == ?. I am unsure of the significance of the number 5 or what specific integer I should use to activate a trigger after 3 days have passed.

For the Graphite G09, you might want to look into using scripting with the Crimson software, as it can help automate tasks like clearing the event viewer after a set time. As for the internal clock issue on your Red Lion HMIs, I’ve faced this too and found that it often helps to check the time zone settings and make sure Daylight Saving Time adjustments are set correctly in the configuration. Sometimes a firmware update can also resolve timing quirks, so that's worth checking out as well!
