Hello everyone, We have recently installed Beka terminals to showcase alarms and variable data for operators in a Zone 1 environment. I'm seeking recommendations for alternative manufacturers that offer similar products or more affordable types of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) that would be suitable for this application, understanding that touchscreens are not an option. Has anyone had experience with these types of devices? I would appreciate any insights or suggestions. Thank you!
I'm in search of a Zone 1 panel PC, like the one found at this link: [APC Technology Zone 1 Panel PC](http://apctechnology.com.au/product/pc-ex1-panel-pc-for-zone-1-locations/). I recommend using the free AdvancedHMI software for the human-machine interface (HMI). You can find it here: [Download AdvancedHMI](https://sourceforge.net/projects/advancedhmi/). The idea behind this approach is to keep the PC and HMI software separate, giving you greater flexibility and options. Just a suggestion. Best regards,
I’m facing an issue where a full Human-Machine Interface (HMI) isn't necessary; a basic terminal would suffice. Since there is already a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system operational, introducing a new display would be significantly more costly compared to a text-based terminal. Furthermore, the entire user interface design seems to be quite disorganized, which may explain why users struggle to navigate it, leading to potential interface changes.
Hi there! It sounds like you're working on an interesting project. If touchscreens are off the table, you might want to explore options from manufacturers like Red Lion Controls and Domat Control System, as they offer robust HMIs with button-based interfaces that excel in Zone 1 environments. Another option to consider is Weidmüller’s theming products, which provide durability and can be customized to your specific needs. It would also be worth checking out the offerings from B&R or Siemens, depending on your budget, as they often have good reliability and range of features. Hope this helps!
Hi there! While Beka terminals are solid, you might want to consider looking into products from Beijer Electronics or Siemens; they both have reliable options for Zone 1 environments that could fit your criteria. Another brand to keep an eye on is Pro-face, as they offer robust non-touch HMIs that are user-friendly and can handle hazardous conditions. It might also be worth checking in with local suppliers for closed-system options—they sometimes have competitive pricing and can provide tailored solutions based on your specific needs. Good luck!
