In my SCADA system setup, I plan to connect multiple process lines to a Stratix 5700 switch. This switch will facilitate Network Address Translation (NAT), allowing me to convert my PLC addresses into routable enterprise addresses, essentially another set of private IP addresses. This setup will enable my PLCs to communicate effectively with the servers. To enhance connectivity, I intend to incorporate a Layer 3 device between the Stratix 5700 and the enterprise switches to facilitate routing from the enterprise network to these devices. While I have considered the Stratix 8300 for its capabilities, it is prohibitively expensive, and I do not require all the integrated features tailored for PLCs and HMIs. As an alternative, I am exploring the option of using an industrial router, although I lack experience in this area. One router I am evaluating is the Red Lion RAM-6021. I welcome any opinions or recommendations regarding its suitability for my application. I've attached a diagram illustrating the connection from the Stratix 5700 to each process line. Thank you!

I highly recommend Stride! They offer both managed and unmanaged options, and I've tried several of their products with excellent results.
It appears that they currently do not offer any products featuring layer 3 functionalities.

Your setup sounds solid, and it's great that you're thinking through the architecture so thoroughly! The Red Lion RAM-6021 could be a good fit for your needs since it's designed for industrial environments and offers robust routing features without the extra costs associated with the Stratix 8300. Just make sure to check its NAT capabilities and how it handles multiple VLANs if that's part of your design. Also, I recommend consulting the user community or any available documentation to get insights from others who've implemented similar setups—it often helps to see real-world experiences. Good luck with your project!
