Configuring Custom IP Addresses and Tag Addresses in PanelView Plus 6 and FactoryTalk View ME: Your Questions Answered

Question:

Hello, Friends! I have two questions to ask: 1. Can an individual assign a custom IP address to a PanelView Plus 6 1000? 2. During the simulation phase in FactoryTalk View ME, I want to utilize a Tag address, such as N7:10, instead of using a Tag Name like "start." However, I cannot locate it in the connection tab. How can I assign a Tag using the Tag address (N7:10) during the simulation phase without using a PLC Node? I appreciate any assistance you can provide! Thank you in advance!

Greetings! 1. It is indeed feasible to allocate a unique IP address to your PVP6 1000 device. You can accomplish this through the Network Settings section. When you close your application, you should be directed to the settings panel, where you'll find the option to access Network Settings. 2. Could you please let me know which version of FT View you are currently using?

Click to expand... Version 9.00. Does this mean that any IP address is valid? Is there no default IP address available?”

PanelView Plus terminals, similar to most computers, are set up to use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) for automatic network address assignment by default. To establish a static IP address, navigate to the Configuration mode menus within the Network Settings section. Please note that there is no predefined static IP address available. Regarding your second inquiry, it seems you are referring to Offline Tag Browsing. This feature allows you to link an RSLinx Enterprise Shortcut to a *.ACD file associated with a ControlLogix family controller. It's important to mention that this capability is not supported for *.RSS files used with SLC/MicroLogix controllers; for these, you will need to manually enter the data table address. By following these steps, you can optimize your PanelView Plus terminal settings for a more tailored network setup and understand the limitations related to data browsing for different types of controllers.
