What software is required to connect a FANUC controller to a CNC router? Troubleshooting various issues and faults can often be challenging. Since I have experience with most PLCs, I would like to explore working with the ladder logic program within the controller, if feasible. The machine controls are approximately 15 years old. After researching GE FANUC options, it seems that either Cimplicity or Proficy might be suitable, although I'm uncertain.
It's certainly more effective to initiate a new discussion rather than bringing an old thread from 2008 back to life. I've transferred my previous response here for your reference. Can you provide additional information about the controller? Pictures would also be helpful. Fifteen years ago, GE Fanuc operated as a joint venture, and during that time, GE PLCs were designed to function as controllers for various Fanuc servo motors and amplifiers. Additionally, GE Fanuc produced CNC controllers that were compatible with these same motors and amplifiers. If your customer's motion control system is based on PLCs, you can utilize Proficy Machine Edition—previously known as Cimplicity Machine Edition. Please note that this should not be confused with Cimplicity HMI/SCADA software.
Certainly! Here’s the improved version: "Absolutely, please provide a clear image of the screen or human-machine interface (HMI), along with a detailed photograph of the servo system located within the electrical cabinet."
Those images won’t be beneficial to us unless you upload them.

I share a keen interest in this subject as well. In Japan, Fanuc PLCs are widely utilized; however, there's a claim that they support Ethernet/IP, though we haven't encountered any substantial proof of this feature. Additionally, for effective communication with our controller, the PLC must function as a master, similar to the ControlLogix. Our motion controller is versatile and proficient in various Ethernet protocols, making it compatible with multiple languages. Currently, I'm exploring all available Ethernet communication options.
