Following recent customer inquiries, the Crimson Software Customer Notice was posted on the Red Lion website on March 25, 2024, at 18:30. Devices running versions 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 of Crimson® may experience inaccurate timestamps on data, alarm, and event logs around March 22, 2024. Users might also encounter issues such as device failures or unexpected restarts. To resolve these issues, users can restore operation by power-cycling the unit and clearing any displayed GMC error messages on the HMI screen using the touchscreen or keyboard. While communication functionality should be restored after these steps, incorrect dates may still be displayed. Accessing data logs via the trend viewer could lead to additional restarts or failures. Red Lion is actively working on a solution for this problem and will provide an update once it is available. In the meantime, users in need of assistance or further information can reach out to Red Lion support using the contact methods provided below. This information aims to assist individuals who may be experiencing similar issues.
If you're in need of a software or firmware solution, look no further than Crimson® for a reliable fix.
The latest updates for versions 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 have been released. However, my client is still waiting for fixes for versions 2.0 and 2.1. I have just received confirmation from the distributor that fixes for these versions have also been released, despite not being updated on their website yet.
Thank you for sharing the Crimson 3.1 or 3.0 page link, Dan. At first, I was confused, but now I understand that following the link is the key to finding information about those versions.
Check out this previous discussion regarding resetting the data log time in an HMI using RED LION HMI, which we have been utilizing for the past 15 years. Recently, we noticed that our log file had data up to March 22, 2024, at 1:16. However, a new log file was created on January 1, 1997, with data being logged in with a different timestamp. This issue has been discussed on plctalk.net.
To the best of my knowledge, Red Lion has resolved all issues.
I appreciate the thorough information, it's helpful to those experiencing these issues. I'm running the 3.2 version on my device, so the inaccurate timestamps explained why my data seemed off the other day! I performed the power-cycling and it managed to resolve some of the issues, but indeed the dates are still incorrect. Glad to hear Red Lion is working on a solution - if there's a software patch or an update in the works, it would be fantastic. Looking forward to further communication on this matter.
Appreciate the clear update about the current issues with the Crimson® software, it’s reassuring to know that Red Lion is already at work on a solution. In the meantime, the workaround steps provided are helpful, although they might only resolve some of the problems. I would suggest to those who rely heavily on data accuracy, to ensure they have a back-up process during this time to minimize potential data misinterpretation due to incorrect timestamps. Looking forward to the fix, and cheers to the team for their efforts.
I appreciate the detailed heads up about the issues and the temporary mitigation methods. It's disconcerting, however, to have been noticing errors for a couple of days before receiving this notice, especially as these types of disruptions can have major impacts on operations. Hopefully, the team at Red Lion can come up with a more permanent solution soon, as navigating through these glitches and errors is proving to be quite a challenge. In the meantime, it would be helpful if additional resources or tutorials could be shared on managing these disruptions for end users.
Thanks for sharing this update! It's great that Red Lion is addressing these issues, but it's definitely frustrating for those experiencing incorrect timestamps and potential device failures. I wonder how long it'll take for them to roll out a fix. In the meantime, I appreciate the tips on power-cycling and clearing GMC messages, though it's concerning that unexpected restarts might still occur when accessing logs. Hopefully, they keep us posted with any developments!
