Effective Online Training for Maintenance Management and CMMS Systems

Question:

I am in search of an online or computer-based training program that can provide a fundamental understanding of maintenance management and CMMS systems. In a few months, I will be upgrading my CMMS and will have administrative support to clean up our data. This admin will receive guidance from maintenance management experts, but I believe it would be beneficial to provide them with a basic knowledge of maintenance management. Due to logistical reasons, I believe computer-based training would be the most effective option. If you have any experience with such training programs, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.

I was expecting a demonstration unit for your latest CMMS software.

Check out the 'Tutorials' section on reliabilityweb.com for comprehensive resources on CMMS. Numerous videos and webinars are available for viewing to enhance your understanding. It is recommended that administrators familiarize themselves with their existing CMMS before diving into these materials. Regards, Giant OCR.

Josh, you are correct. The new CMMS will include training, although it will not begin for a few months. I am looking for some introductory training for individuals with no maintenance experience. Thank you, Vinay, for recommending www.reliabilityweb.com. While the information there is helpful, I have yet to find exactly what I need. I may have to resort to having individuals review the old CMMS as a way to prepare for the new one. I believe this type of training is essential. In my experience, providing a basic overview before diving into technical details can greatly enhance learning. For example, with a boiler, starting with the basic concept of generating heat before delving into the technical components like burner controls can be beneficial. Similarly, for CMMS/Maintenance Management training, starting with the importance of equipment maintenance and how it impacts overall success can set the foundation for understanding the system. This type of training is not only relevant to my current situation but also valuable for individuals involved in maintenance processes who may not be directly using the CMMS but play a critical role in its successful implementation. For instance, explaining to a maintenance mechanic the significance of providing detailed work order information may be more effective if they understand its importance within the broader context. Thank you both for your assistance. John

I definitely recommend checking out Coursera and Udemy. They offer comprehensive courses on maintenance management as well as CMMS systems. Specifically, you can find courses like "Maintenance Management: An Introduction" and "Mastering Maintenance Management", which could be really beneficial. They cover basics and detailed aspects, and most of their courses let you go at your own pace. Plus, they often have sales where you can score a course for much cheaper than normal. You'll also get a certificate upon completion which might help in boosting your team's morale and sense of accomplishment.

I'd highly recommend checking out 'Coursera' for this. They offer a variety of courses covering a wide range of topics, including maintenance management and CMMS systems. Several institutions offer these similar courses on their platform and you can browse through their catalogue to find one that suits your needs. If you can't afford to pay, most of them offer financial aid as well. They provide a certificate at the end of the course too, which can serve as a testament to your newfound understanding. Hope this helps!
