Efficiently Adding Spanish Translations in FactoryTalk View Studio

Question:

I am currently using Machine Edition release number 5 to develop a multilingual application in English and Spanish. I have successfully exported all the text to an excel file, input most of the Spanish translations, and imported the file back into ME. When testing the application, I can easily switch between the two languages without any issues. However, I am unsure how to add a Spanish version when adding new text in English, such as on pushbuttons or alarms, within the application editor. While I am aware that I can perform another export/import process for minor modifications, this method seems too time-consuming and inefficient. How can I efficiently add Spanish translations for new text entries within the application editor?

First, add your text and then close the application. When you re-open the application, select the desired language from the "Open File" window. The button and other elements should still be visible, allowing you to seamlessly edit the text in the new language.

I appreciate your input, jimbo3123. Currently, I only speak two languages, but I can already tell that managing more languages will be a challenge.

I have tried to do the same thing, but I am unsure how to open it in an editor using a different language. I successfully downloaded it to the PanelView, but encountered some issues while checking for errors. Can someone provide guidance on editing in a different language on the PanelView? Thank you.

Greetings! I have opened the same project in two languages: Spanish and English. Using Factory Talk, you can run two instances of the project - simply open it in one language first, then open it again in the other. This allows for a seamless transition between languages within the same project.

I am encountering an issue with the HMI language switching functionality. My goal is to easily switch between English and Spanish on the HMI screen. I have utilized text file exports and imports to set up the language switching configuration. Do we need to translate English words into Spanish for this to work correctly? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Best regards, Hema.

You can streamline your process by using the Multiple Language Interface (MLI) plugin within Machine Edition itself. This plugin essentially provides a real-time translation platform. Each piece of text you enter in English can be followed by its Spanish counterpart right away, without having to export or import Excel files. This might matter more for continuous project updates. Simply put, when you add a new pushbutton or alarm text, just enter its Spanish translation within the MLI plugin. Keep an eye on your tag names to ensure you're matching the correct translations with the respective new text entries.
