Hello everyone, I recently encountered an issue when trying to close down FactoryTalk View. Upon attempting to save the window I was working on, an error message popped up saying 'The requested access check failed because the token has expired.' I am hesitant to close it without saving as I have put in around 2 hours of work. I am currently using version 5.0 CPR9. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mark.
The Auto-Logout feature is a common issue that users encounter when using FactoryTalk. To troubleshoot this issue, try logging in through the FT Administration Console instead of closing and reopening FTView Studio. This approach may help you to quickly regain access to your FactoryTalk account. For more information and troubleshooting tips, visit the link provided.
Hello Ken, I am encountering an issue in the FT Admin console where the log-in option appears greyed out, suggesting that I may already be logged in. Despite trying to log out and log back in, I was prompted to change my password due to it expiring. After changing the password and logging back in, I still faced difficulty in saving the screens I was working on. It's puzzling because I didn't experience any issues while working on the project last night. The only difference I can think of is that today, in addition to the project, I also have RS Logix 5000 open. However, I don't see how this could be related to the problem. I appreciate your assistance, Mark
After some troubleshooting, I believe I have resolved the issue. I attempted to access the link you provided, but I lacked access to TechConnect. Upon checking the FactoryTalk Admin console, I discovered a 1-hour time limit for inactivity, which I have now adjusted to 24 hours. Thank you for your assistance.
Hey Mark, could you please let me know where I can locate the setting to adjust the timer? I've searched extensively in the admin console but haven't been able to find it. It seems like mine is currently set to 15 minutes, as I encounter this issue whenever I step away for a bit.
To ensure uninterrupted access to FactoryTalk Admin console, adjust the security setting as illustrated in the provided images. By setting it to 0, you can prevent automatic logouts. We hope this information proves helpful. Thank you, Mark.
Hi Mark, it looks like your session token, which authenticates your user session, has expired. The typical reasons for a 'token has expired' error can be that you've been signed in for a long time without any activity, or there might be a discrepancy between the server and local time. Try logging out and signing back in. If the problem persists, you might want to consider upgrading your FactoryTalk View as version 5.0 CPR9 is pretty old and potentially no longer supported, which can lead to such issues.
Hi Mark, it's quite frustrating when you face such a dilemma, isn't it? I had a similar issue with FactoryTalk View before. If I'm not mistaken, your error might be due to an expired token generated by FactoryTalk. It's a security feature to verify user access. Normally, restarting the application should resolve this issue, but I understand your concern about losing your work. Try to refresh your tokens, go to Tools > Security > Users and Groups > Refresh Tokens. These settings may vary on different versions, but should be generally found under Security. If this doesn't work, check your user authentication settings. I hope this helps!
Hey Mark, that sounds frustrating! Before you risk losing your work, try checking if you can take a screenshot of the current view or even copy some of the text elements to a separate document if possible. Sometimes, running a quick reboot can refresh permissions and might help you save your progress. Additionally, if you have auto-recovery settings, it could be worth checking if any autosave files were generated. Good luck!
Hey Mark, that sounds really frustrating! It might help to check if you're logged in with sufficient permissions or if there's a network issue affecting your access. Sometimes restarting the application can reset the token, but since you've invested so much time, you might want to try to take a screenshot of your work or copy-paste anything critical before closing out. If things don't work out, you could also consider reaching out to Rockwell support for further assistance. Good luck!
