Originally, I had planned to pursue a career as a "production engineer", but now I am considering exploring maintenance engineering as a potential career path. As I will be completing my bachelor's degree in "Automation and Mechatronics" soon, I am now faced with the decision of selecting courses for my master's degree in production engineering, with a focus on production systems. With that in mind, I am seeking advice on the key skills that are essential for excelling as a maintenance engineer. I have some experience in signal processing, which I believe is crucial for analyzing vibrations and similar tasks. However, I am open to any suggestions you may have. As such, I am looking for more general courses that could still be beneficial, such as signal processing or acoustics. Perhaps more programming courses could also be helpful. I am not aware of any maintenance courses offered at my university, with the exception of a course in advanced mathematical reliability statistics tailored for statistical engineers. However, I will be extensively studying simulation techniques in my mandatory courses, which I believe will provide me with a solid understanding of the theory.
