Is there a sufficient number of Oracle eAM users in this community to establish a specialized forum? Terry O
To improve organization and user experience, I will keep a close watch on the "Posts Regarding Various CMMs/EAM Software" section for a rise in discussions about a specific software. Once a significant number of discussions center around the same software, I will establish a specific threshold for determining when to create a separate board. For instance, if 15 out of 41 discussions in the current "other CMMS" section focus on a particular CMMS (or EAM), it may be appropriate to create a new board for those topics. The key question is: at what point do we have enough discussions to warrant this change?
After reviewing the various discussions, the next CMMS system that could potentially have its own dedicated board is JDE, assuming the "most mentioned CMMS" rule holds true. Unfortunately, the poll I created did not receive as many responses as expected. Another possible criteria for determining if a separate CMMS message board is warranted could be the number of installations or licenses sold. However, this information may be found in benchmarks featured in industry publications. Besides SAP R/3, Maximo, and Datastream, which CMMS systems are considered the top sellers in the market?
Fifty percent of the market share is held by the top three software houses, while ten others hold between 2-3% each. The remaining market share is divided among approximately 400 software houses. With the acquisition of JDE and Peoplesoft, Oracle has solidified its position as the fourth-largest player in the EAM market. Terry O.
JDE users would greatly benefit from having their own dedicated forum.
One effective strategy for optimizing board decisions is to establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for their creation and maintenance. For instance, consider implementing a system where a topic earns its own individual board after a set number of discussions. To ensure board engagement, maintain boards that generate a minimum number of new conversations each month. But what should be done with inactive boards? Consider reassigning those discussions to the "Other..." board to keep topics fresh and engaging.
I agree with your suggestion, Terry. Given the complexity of Oracle eAM, having a specialized forum for eAM users could be beneficial. It would allow us to share expertise, discuss issues, and create a pool of knowledge specifically targeted at this user group. However, it's essential to gauge the number of active eAM users here to ensure that such a forum will have the participation and engagement required to be effective and beneficial to everyone involved.
That's a pretty good idea, Terry. An Oracle eAM specific part of the forum could be really valuable for both those who are new to the system and skilled users alike. However, we would need to ascertain whether there are enough active participants who use Oracle eAM regularly. Maybe a survey could help gauge the potential interest?
