Guide for Setting up Port Forwarding for RSLinx Classic Gateway

Question:

Hello Team, I trust this message finds you all in good health. I am currently facing challenges while trying to establish port forwarding for TCP_2222 and TCP_44818 to connect to the RSLinx Classic Gateway. I have followed the specified configuration, but I am encountering difficulties in establishing the connection. The Port Forwarding Table setup is as follows: Original IP: 192.168.69.45 TCP PORT 2222 >>> Port Forwarding >>> IP: 127.0.0.1 TCP 45890 >>> Connected IP: 127.0.0.1:45890 Original IP: 192.168.69.45 TCP PORT 44818 >>> Port Forwarding >>> IP: 127.0.0.1 TCP 44108 >>> Connected IP: 127.0.0.1:44108 Despite my efforts, the connection is not functioning as intended. If anyone has encountered a similar configuration and resolved it successfully, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in testing the RSLinx Classic Gateway. Furthermore, I am currently unable to locate the installation files for the RSLinx Classic Gateway. If anyone can guide me on how to obtain a trial version of the software, it would be incredibly beneficial. Thank you for your support.

In order to use RSLinx Classic Gateway, a license is required as there are no trial versions available. Contact your nearest Rockwell Automation distributor for assistance with obtaining the necessary licensing.

It appears to be Ethernet/IP as it utilizes ports 44818 and 2222. However, it is possible that implicit connections could also be established through UDP port 2222, in addition to TCP. This suggests there may be a significant historical connection between the ports and protocols used.

Welcome to the PLCTalk forum community! We are here to help you with your RSLinx Classic gateway system. Please provide more details about why you are attempting to use port forwarding. Typically, RSLinx clients are not able to be set up to use a custom TCP Port. I am curious about why you have included the localhost address in your port forwarding settings. Can you specify the device or operating system you are configuring? Your details will help us provide the best assistance possible as you navigate through this setup process.

Hi there! It seems like you are doing everything right, but the devil is always in the details. Have you checked your firewall settings? Sometimes it can prevent the connection. Also, are you certain that there are no other applications currently using these particular ports? This could be another reason for the unsuccessful connection. As for the RSLinx Classic Gateway, you can download a free trial version from the official Rockwell Automation website. They also have some great support resources that might help with your issues. Good luck!
