How to Automatically Distribute Employee Labor Hours across Equipment in MP2 Data Entry?

Question:

Is there a way to automatically distribute employee labor hours across all equipment on a work order when using Batch Work Order Quick Update? Instead of manually dividing the time, is there an option to apply the time to all equipment by default or by selection? This feature would streamline the process of entering employee time on work orders. Thank you.

Greetings Giant OCR users! As an Mp2 consultant, I want to share a helpful tip with you. When working on batch work orders, you can assign labor hours to different equipment using the Quick work order update feature in Mp2. Simply go to the Activities/Work orders/Quick work order update option in the Mp2 menu bar. Enter the equipment or location where the work was done, along with the person who performed the work and the number of hours spent. By selecting the "Divide labor hours across equipment" button on the right corner, Mp2 will evenly distribute the labor hours among the equipment. For example, if you had a total of ten hours with two machines, each machine will receive 5 labor hours after dividing them. If you have further inquiries, feel free to contact me via email at jennifer_ohl@yahoo.com. Best of luck! Additionally, please note that Datastream has recently released a patch for Mp2 Access 2000 (ACC0501115), Mp2 6.0 SQL (SQL050915), and Mp2 Oracle (ORA050115). These instructions are applicable to all Mp2 versions.

Hey Jennifer, have you heard about Datastream discontinuing support for MP2 this year as they transition all users to 7i? I'm using version 5 currently and feeling hesitant about upgrading to 7i. What are your thoughts on this? I'll share my contact details with you via email since I understand you may not be able to provide extensive consulting for free. Thank you.

While there isn't currently an automatic feature to distribute labor hours across all equipment on a work order in the Batch Work Order Quick Update, it's a great idea for enhancing efficiency! In the meantime, you may consider using macros or external tools to aid in this. Ask your software provider if there might be a patch or update in the pipeline that would incorporate such functionality. Don't forget your feedback is invaluable to software developers as they constantly aim to improve user experience.

I definitely see the value in your ideaβ€”it would definitely make time allocation more efficient! Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, most systems today don't have that specific kind of automation built in. However, this would be a great suggestion for software developers in the maintenance & repair operations (MRO) industry. Perhaps there's a workaround through a custom script or macro! It might also be worth checking with your software's support team to see if they can assist or advise.

As far as I'm aware, there's currently no in-built feature to automatically distribute labor hours across all equipment on a work order within Batch Work Order Quick Update. What you're suggesting though is indeed a fantastic idea, it would indeed streamline the data entry process significantly. This sounds like a feature request that the software development team should consider implementing, so consider relaying your feedback directly to them for future updates. In the meantime, perhaps look into API options or third-party software that could automate this for you.
