How to Configure ET200s Analog Output Settings with KepserverExV4 for Siemens Systems

Question:

Hello everyone, I am seeking assistance with configuring the analog output settings for ET200s using KepserverExV4. My system is designed to output a voltage range of 0-10V, but it limits the output to 0-3V and then drops to 0V when it exceeds 3V. Additionally, I am experiencing difficulties with going online using Step7, as I am unable to establish a connection and all blocks disappear when switching to online mode. I’m looking to monitor specific data blocks such as DB1.DBW456, DB5.DBD566, DB3.DBW254, and PQW412. Although I can read the values currently, it doesn’t match my expectations. Could I have potentially made an error in my configuration? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

When adding a new tag to the project and clicking on "address," a list of potential address types, such as QWxxx, will be displayed. In other words, the output will be a word.

Hello, just a couple of thoughts regarding your issue. For your analog output problem, it seems like there's a scaling issue in your software. KepserverExV4 might be misinterpreting your range of 0-10V. Double-check your settings and ensure they align with the operating instructions. For Step7, going online usually requires a matching offline/online configuration. If all blocks disappear when you're trying to go online, it sounds like your offline and online projects may not be in sync. As for observing data blocks, the observed discrepancies might be a result of the scaling issue I mentioned before, or there may be a misconfiguration on the PLC end. I would suggest debugging one step at a time to see where the issues lie. Good luck!

Have you checked the range setting parameters in the ET200s configuration in KepserverExV4? They should be set consistently with your system's design. For your issue with Step7, it sounds like the blocks disappear because of a communication error with the PLC. Make sure that you can ping the PLC from your control system. Also, regarding data block monitoring, differences between expected and actual values may come from misaligned data block addresses, incorrect data type definitions, or the wrong offset values. I suggest verifying these settings in both Kepserver and Step7. Although it might take some time, a thorough re-evaluation can pinpoint any configuration errors that may have occurred. Keep us posted on your progress!

It sounds like you've got a couple of issues at play here! For the analog output limitation, double-check your scaling settings in KepserverExV4 to ensure your output range is correctly configured to map the 0-10V range. Also, if you have any hardware settings on the ET200s themselves, those might need adjustment too. As for your Step7 connection troubles, it could be a communication issue; make sure your PLC settings, like the network configuration and IP addresses, are correctly set up and that you're using the right driver. Sometimes, reloading the project might help with the disappearing blocks as well. Hopefully, this helps set you on the right path!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

FAQ: 1. Why is my ET200s analog output limited to 0-3V instead of the desired 0-10V range when using KepserverExV4?

Answer: Answer: The issue could be related to the configuration of the analog output settings. Ensure that the scaling and mapping parameters are correctly set up in KepserverExV4 to achieve the desired voltage range.

FAQ: 2. How can I resolve the problem of all blocks disappearing and being unable to establish a connection in Step7 when going online?

Answer: Answer: This issue may be caused by communication errors or misconfigurations. Check the connection settings, network configurations, and ensure that the PLC is properly connected and powered. Additionally, verify the Step7 project settings for consistency.

FAQ: 3. Why are the values of the monitored data blocks (DB1.DBW456, DB5.DBD566, DB3.DBW254, and PQW412) not matching expectations despite being able to read them?

Answer: Answer: Incorrect configuration settings, data mapping, or scaling parameters might be causing the discrepancy. Double-check the configuration of these data blocks in both KepserverExV4 and Step7 to ensure they are aligned with your expectations.
