Optimal Configuration for PLC 1763-L16AWA Micrologix 1100 and PV800 2711R-T7T HMI I am currently working with the PLC 1763-L16AWA Micrologix 1100 paired with the PVC 2711C-T6C. Recently, I decided to upgrade the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) by replacing it with the PV800 2711R-T7T model. To facilitate this transition, I successfully converted a PV Component program to be compatible with the PV800 using Connected Components Workbench. However, I encountered an issue when attempting to utilize the existing RS232 connection. It appears that I need assistance with configuring the serial connection on the PV800. I've searched both the maintenance screen and the Connected Components Workbench (CCW) software, but I haven't found the necessary information. Can anyone guide me on how to properly set up the serial connection for the PV800? Your expertise would be greatly appreciated!
For valuable insights and assistance, I recommend checking out the thread linked here: http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=77804. It could provide the support you need. Best regards!
I've identified the problem related to the CCW program for downloading with RSLinx. While examining the communication settings, I realized that clicking on the HMI opens up a communication window. To clarify, I've included a screenshot to illustrate this. Everything makes sense now!
Setting up the RS232 connection on the PV800 can be a bit tricky since it doesn't always have the same configuration options as older models. Since you're using Connected Components Workbench, make sure you've selected the correct communication settings under the HMI properties—specifically check the baud rate, parity, and stop bits to match what your PLC is using. Also, ensure that you’re using the right COM port settings in both the HMI and PLC program. If problems persist, you might want to try connecting the HMI to the PLC with a different protocol like Ethernet/IP, if possible, as it can simplify the configuration process. Good luck!
