How to Connect Red Lion Data Station Plus to Mitsubishi Q06UDEHCPU via Ethernet: Tips and Troubleshooting

Question:

I am attempting to establish communication between the Red Lion Data Station Plus and the Mitsubishi Q-series PLC, specifically the Q06UDEHCPU model, which features a built-in Ethernet port. Unfortunately, I have not been successful thus far. While I can seamlessly connect using a QJ71E71 Ethernet module, I prefer to utilize the integrated Ethernet port instead of adding an external module. There are numerous settings in both the PLC configuration and the Red Lion settings. Despite experimenting with various parameter values, I haven't achieved a successful connection. I would appreciate any insights or tips from others who may have successfully configured this setup. Thank you!

Hello! While I haven't personally used RedLion products, I believe they utilize the MC protocol. When working with the QJ71E71 module, you'll find that it has two active ports: TCP port 5000 and UDP port 5001, both of which readily accept incoming connections. However, with the QnUDE CPUs, you'll need to specify which ports to enable and ensure that they are configured to support the MC protocol. I hope this information is helpful to you!

Cobra, I've utilized the Q03UDE controller alongside a Parker/CTC display. I’ve attached my project notes, which include screenshots from GX-Developer that might be beneficial for your reference.

Thank you, BTalbot, for your helpful insights. I have adjusted the settings, but unfortunately, I’m still experiencing issues. Below are the configurations I've applied for the Q06 and the Red Lion device. I’ve experimented with various combinations of Network Number, PC Number, and Access settings. The PLC's Ethernet diagnostics indicate that the Red Lion is attempting to establish a connection; however, the PLC is reflecting an error. I'm at a loss for the next steps to resolve this issue. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you attempted adjusting the PC Number to 255 in Crimson? You can find this option located under the TCP Port # settings.

Thank you, BTalbot! That was exactly what I needed. Although I'm not familiar with the term "PC Number," I've configured the Network Number to 0 and adjusted the PC Number to 255, and now they are successfully communicating. I appreciate your help once again!
