Hello everyone, I am looking to connect my unipulse load cell controller to a Mitsubishi HMI GOT2000 using RS232 communication. The catch is that there is no PLC connected to the HMI. I need to directly transfer load data to the HMI. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to achieve this, please share them with me. Thank you.
You do not need a PLC to connect to the GOT. If the load cell controller uses a common industrial protocol like Modbus, you can easily connect to it using the built-in driver. However, if your controller only supports ASCII, the process can be a bit more complex. In this case, setting the controller to transmit automatically and utilizing the Barcode reader configuration can help bring the data from the RS232 port to the HMI field. From there, you can use a script to manipulate the data as needed. To avoid seeing raw data, you can set the colors to blend with the background. If the scale requires a prompt before sending data, it may pose a challenge as the built-in scripting may not directly access the serial port. Good luck with your setup!
While it's not common practice to connect an HMI directly to a load cell controller sans PLC, it might still be possible. I'd suggest exploring the direct data mapping abilities of the Mitsubishi HMI GOT2000 first. If it can directly communicate with RS232-based devices, you could possibly pull real-time data from your Unipulse controller. Please note that the communication protocol setup could be challenging without a PLC as a mediator. Perhaps a micro-controller might provide a feasible workaround if the GOT2000 can't be mapped directly to Unipulse controller. Hope this steer helps, good luck!
Hey! That sounds like an interesting challenge. Since you’re looking to connect the Unipulse load cell controller directly to the Mitsubishi GOT2000 HMI via RS232, you might want to start by checking the communication protocols supported by both devices. If you can configure the load cell controller to send data in a format that the HMI can understand, you should be able to set up the serial communication successfully. Also, consider using a serial to Ethernet converter if you run into any limitations—sometimes that can simplify connectivity issues. Good luck, and I hope you find the right solution!
