Greetings users of PLCs.net! I am currently working on an Advantech 1250H HMI that is connected to a 1769 Compact Logix and running an HMI application. I have located the backup files for the HMI (.pm3) and am looking to make changes to the HMI screens using Advantech Webaccess/Designer on my PC within the same network. While making modifications on the designer, I noticed that the download/upload options are grayed out after compiling the application. How can I proceed to download a new application to this panel? Network Configuration: The HMI panel has an IP address of 192.168.0.101, my designer PC is 192.168.0.103, and the Compact Logix is at 192.168.0.108. I am able to successfully ping the HMI IP address from my PC.
To utilize Runtime embedded within a 'panel' (also referred to as WOP or Webop), you have the option of downloading it over Ethernet or through a USB cable. This capability is unavailable for the Windows Runtime, requiring you to manually transfer the compiled project to the computer. Subsequently, you can access it by opening the runtime window/interface.
Thank you, ExabMorgan, for your feedback. I tried to find the feature that allows me to export the designer file to a runtime file (.pe3) but I cannot locate it in the panel menu. The 'build runtime' option appears to be grayed out.
Hey there! A possible reason for the download/upload options being grayed out could be due to incompatible software versions or a misconfigured network setting. Make sure that WebAccess/Designer version matches with your HMI panel's firmware. Judging from your network config, it seems that everything is in order. However, you should also try checking the settings in the project properties, under Transfer settings. Make sure that the IP address and port numbers entered there are right, and that no firewalls or blockers are preventing the connection. Additionally, you could try running the WebAccess/Designer program as an administrator, as some features could be restricted otherwise. Keep us updated so that we can troubleshoot the issue further if needed!
Hey there! It sounds like you might be experiencing a network restriction issue. As the download/upload options are grayed out, it's possible that your HMI application isn't correctly communicating with the Advantech Webaccess/Designer. Here's a thing you could try: double-check the network addresses in your Designer software to ensure they match your HMI's IP address. If that doesn't help, ensure the application’s project settings are correctly configured (e.g., target device model and communication parameters). Lastly, temporarily disable the firewall on your PC and restart both your HMI and PC to see if it corrects this issue. Remember to re-enable your firewall once you're done testing!
Hi there! I've had similar issues with Advantech Webaccess/Designer before, so I might be able to help. The download/upload options being grayed out may be due to either invalid project settings or some network security issues. Firstly, ensure that PC and HMI are on the same subnet and there's no firewall blocking your communication paths. It's good you can ping the HMI from your PC, but you also need to check if you can ping your PC from the HMI. If the networking is fine, then check your project settings, specifically that the correct model and communication settings(Properties>System Parameter>Model Info) are selected for the HMI and device nodes. Hopefully this helps you out and you can proceed to download a new application to the panel!
It sounds like you're on the right track with your network setup, especially since you can ping the HMI. The grayed-out download/upload options often indicate a communication or permission issue. First, double-check that the HMI is in "Run" mode, as it might need to be in "Stop" mode to allow uploads or downloads. Also, confirm that you're using the correct project settings and that your user account has sufficient permissions to make changes. If those look good, try restarting both the HMI and your PC to refresh the connection. If you're still stuck, consider looking for any specific Advantech documentation or forums for troubleshooting tips, as there might be device-specific settings affecting the process. Good luck!

Answer: - The download/upload options in Webaccess/Designer may be grayed out due to certain settings or configurations. Ensuring proper network connectivity and permissions is essential for enabling these options.
Answer: - To download a new application to the HMI panel, ensure that the panel, your PC, and the Compact Logix are on the same network. Verify network settings, IP addresses, and ensure proper communication between devices. Check for any firewall or security settings that might block the transfer.
Answer: - If you can ping the HMI IP address but still cannot download the application, double-check the network settings, subnet masks, and gateway configurations on all devices. Ensure that there are no network issues or restrictions preventing the download process.
Answer: - When transferring a new HMI application
