I am upgrading from an OP7 to a new Delta HMI. Currently, the customer is able to reset a counter by pressing DEL + 0 simultaneously. However, upon reviewing the original OP7 program and manual in ProTool, I cannot locate a specific setting for this key combination. As a result, I am unsure of its functionality (such as moving a value to a register). Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Brett.
It appears that user-programmable functions cannot be assigned to the DEL button, and the DEL + 0 combination is not a standard feature. It seems that only one screen and one input/output field are available. It is possible that the cursor is constantly on the counter, so by deleting the content with DEL and inputting zero with 0 before finalizing with ENTER, the counter can be reset.
It seems like that could be the solution...The operators mentioned that they need to press it at the same time. Your explanation seems more plausible.
Hey Brett, it sounds like you're dealing with a classic case of 'legacy quirks' often encountered during system upgrades. Speaking from experience, in some old systems, certain key sequences were hard coded into the applications rather than being configurable features. Your situation sounds similar. The DEL + 0 command you mentioned may not be explicitly spelled out in ProTool, because it was probably a custom code in the original OP7. In Delta HMI, you'd likely need to script this functionality yourself. Check in the event scripts or macro scripts section. Best of luck, and keep us updated on your progress!
Hey Brett, the DEL + 0 key combination might not be a predefined feature in ProTool, but rather a specific programming script that was initially input. I'd recommend reviewing the PLC logic to verify if the action was written into the ladder code. As you migrate to the Delta HMI, you'll want to recreate this functionality, and it's very likely that you’ll need to do so using the scripting capabilities of the new software. Good luck with the upgrade!
