Hello everyone, I’m currently engaged in a project that involves establishing Ethernet communications with the Pilz PNOZ Multi M1P Ethernet unit from the AB L72 PLC. I've configured it in my hardware profile as a generic Ethernet module, assigned an IP address, and confirmed that I can successfully ping the device. However, I’m encountering a timeout error (16#0204), which I suspect is due to improperly configured connection parameters. Unfortunately, the PILZ manuals provide limited information on this topic. Has anyone else successfully set this up? If so, could you share the connection parameters you utilized? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I'm uncertain whether this device functions as an Ethernet/IP device. To ensure compatibility, you'll need to purchase the PNOZ mc8p Ethernet/IP / Modbus TCP module, which can be found at this link: [PNOZ mc8p Ethernet/IP Modbus TCP](https://www.pilz.com/en-AU/eshop/00...dules/773730=PNOZ-mc8p-Ethernet-IP-Modbus-TCP). This module should be connected to the left side of the base module. If you choose not to acquire this module, you’ll have to resort to open socket communication methods.
**Data Exchange with PNOZmulti** For effective communication with the PNOZmulti device, a consistent transmission of twenty bytes is essential. **Ethernet IP Connectivity** Utilizing the assembly object (class 04h), users can retrieve the input and output data from the PNOZmulti. To request data from the PNOZmulti, specify instance 64h. Meanwhile, instance 96h is used to send data from the Ethernet IP scanner to the PNOZmulti device. For further details, expand your knowledge by reviewing the user manual available at [this link](https://www.pilz.com/download/open/PNOZ_mc8p_Operat_Man_21254-6NL-04.pdf). If you are utilizing expanded outputs, access the web interface of the mc8p and choose table 9 as an option. For comprehensive instructions, refer to page 13 of the connectivity manual located at [this link](https://www.pilz.com/download/open/PNOZmulti_Com_Interface_Op_Man_1001154-EN-13.pdf). Explore these resources to optimize your experience with the PNOZmulti device and ensure effective data exchange via Ethernet IP.
HJTRBO, that's fantastic news! I wasn't aware that this module was necessary, but we have now placed an order for it. This should effectively resolve our issue. Thank you so much!
Absolutely no issues encountered with our installation, which we completed over a year ago. We also integrated expansion IO into our setup. I'm happy to share that our system, along with its compatibility with the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix (AB CLX), has been operating flawlessly.
Looking for a Compaq Logix PNOZ m0p Eth Example? Are you in search of an example featuring the Compaq Logix PNOZ m0p Eth? I’ve spent hours searching online but haven’t been able to find any resources. Any insights or examples would be greatly appreciated!
Hey there! I've worked with the Pilz PNOZ Multi before, and I know how tricky it can be to get everything configured right. That timeout error usually indicates a mismatch in your connection settings, particularly in the message timeout or the connection type. Make sure you're using the correct Ethernet protocol according to the PNOZ documentation, and double-check the settings for your PLC—sometimes things like the socket number or timeout settings can cause issues. If you haven’t already, try reaching out to Pilz support; they can be super helpful with specifics that the manuals might not cover. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
Hey there! I’ve worked with the Pilz PNOZ Multi before, but I faced similar issues getting the Ethernet communication right. Make sure the connection parameters match both the PLC’s and the PNOZ’s settings closely—check the baud rate, data format, and any required timeouts. Sometimes, small mismatches can cause those timeout errors. If you haven't already, try adjusting the network settings in the PLC to ensure they exactly align with the EIP settings in the PNOZ configuration. It could also be worth checking any firewall settings or switches in between that might be blocking traffic. Hope that helps!
