How to Transfer and Initiate HMI Program from CF Card on Schneider XBTGT2220 (Magelis) Panel

Question:

Hello everyone, I am facing an issue with a HMI panel as the old one is no longer functional. I am having trouble transferring the program to the new HMI panel. The previous HMI program is saved on the CF card from the old system. The HMI panel is showing an error message stating "Initial Start Mode, Thank you for your purchase, this unit has not been initialized." Does anyone have suggestions on how to initiate the program from the CF card? Thank you, Niek.

Before proceeding further, it is important to confirm whether you have the correct model that the program is designed for. Did you download the program directly from Vijeo Designer to the CF card, or was the CF card given to you? In any case, the attached document specifies the correct settings for the dip-switches.

We have followed this procedure before but are experiencing issues with the program not loading. The model of the screen remains the same, and the card provided to us is also correct. Previously, the screen worked on the old model despite the touch function being broken. Currently, we have improvised by transferring the screen and touch PCB onto the old computing PCB of the old magelis in order to continue using the machine temporarily. However, we are eager to identify our mistakes and potentially replace the entire setup instead of just the screen.

Do you have Vijeo Designer software? If not, you can transfer the current files from the CF card to a formatted FAT 32 USB stick. Simply insert the USB stick into a USB port on the HMI (ensure the power is off), and then power on the HMI. A prompt should appear to load the application.

Chud inquired about the availability of Vijeo Designer software. If not, one can try transferring current files from a CF card to a USB stick formatted in FAT 32. Insert the USB stick into an HMI's USB port (while powered off) and then power on the HMI to prompt a message to load the application. We currently do not have Vijeo Designer, but will try this method after the weekend. Thank you for the information!

I am facing the same problem mentioned earlier - "this unit has not been initialized." What steps should I take to resolve this issue? I have tried transferring the program to a USB drive as previously mentioned, but it did not work.

Hi Niek, it sounds like the problem might be that your new HMI panel is still in its initial start-up mode. Before you can transfer the program from the CF card, the panel probably needs to be set up first. Start by going through the setup process according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once the unit is initialized and out of its initial start mode, you might find the option to import or transfer programs somewhere within the settings menu. Remember to take a backup of the program from your CF card before starting the transfer, just in case.

Hey Niek, I've faced this problem before with HMI panels. It looks like you need to start by initializing the system. Try to navigate to the setting or system menu in your HMI panel - there should be an option for initialization or factory reset. After resetting, you should be able to load the program from the CF card using a 'load' or 'import' function, typically found in the same settings area. Always remember to get a backup of the program on another device before you start, just in case something goes wrong. Hope this helps!

Hi Niek! Try to check if the CF card is correctly inserted and the data is readable. It's also worth checking if the program on the CF card is compatible with your new HMI panel. If these aren't issues, your software might be needing an initialization sequence before uploading any programs. You may want to refer to your HMI panel's user manual for details on how to initialize the panel. Looping in a local tech support specialist could be beneficial as well.

Hey Niek, it sounds like you’re in a bit of a bind! First, make sure that the CF card is properly formatted and compatible with the new HMI panel. Sometimes, you may need to copy the program files onto a specific folder on the card for the new system to recognize them. Also, check the user manual for any initialization steps specific to your new model; there might be a software or setup tool you need to run first. If you can access the HMI’s setup menu, look for an option to load or import settings from the CF card. Good luck, and I hope you get it up and running!
