Hello, I am using Proficy ME 9.8xxx and have made changes to a project on the customer's development machine. After downloading the changes to the local target (development machine), everything compiles and runs smoothly. Now, I am looking to transfer this runtime file to the 3 panels. It has been around 5-6 years since I last worked with ME, but I vaguely remember there being a way to accomplish this by copying over the files and having the runtime load the new files. Can anyone provide guidance on this process? Thank you.
There are two scenarios when working on a PME project. Scenario 1 involves having a PLC target and a single HMI target. To make changes to the HMI, set it as the current target and adjust the IP address to match the panel before downloading. Repeat this process for any additional targets. Scenario 2 entails having a PLC target and three HMI targets. In this case, you will need to replicate the changes for each target, then select each HMI individually as the current target before downloading.
cjjeeper asked for assistance on transferring a project from one machine to multiple runtime panels running Proficy ME 9.8xxx. After making changes on the customer's DEV machine, the project was successfully compiled and tested. To transfer the runtime file to the panels, follow these steps: 1. Download the project to the DEV target and confirm changes in the runtime. 2. Locate the project folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Emerson\PAC Machine Edition\fxView\Runtime and copy it to a USB drive. 3. Install the USB on the local panel and stop View Runtime. 4. Backup the existing Project folder by copying it to documents. 5. Replace the Project folder with the one from the USB drive. 6. Restart View Runtime. If transferring between different versions like 9.8 to 8.5, ensure to copy the WINDOW file from the backup of the previous Project folder and paste it into the new one before starting View Runtime. Keep in mind that network transfers are possible if machines are connected.
Hi there, sounds like you're on the right track! From what I recall, you'll need to generate the Runtime files (*.mer) from Proficy Machine Edition. Once done, the Runtime files will exist under the project directory in your machine. You can then transfer these files to each panel using a USB or over the network. Just don't forget that each panel should have the equivalent version of Machine Edition Runtime installed. The Runtime loads up the corresponding project mer file automatically. Please also remember to back up original files before overwriting anything. Always useful to have a copy to fall back on!
