FTView SE 8.2 in a Distributed Environment: Troubleshooting Graphic Save Issues I'm currently updating graphics on various HMI servers hosted on different physical machines within a distributed setup. However, I encounter an issue when attempting to save the modified graphic. The error message states: "The server 'HMIServerName' in area 'RNA://$Global/ApplicationName/AreaName' is out of service." I came across a TechNote that addresses file permission issues; however, the permissions appear to be correctly configured. As recommended in the note, I also adjusted the Logon time to 0. Unfortunately, as highlighted in the TechNote, instead of successfully saving the original graphic, an unexpected file filled with random characters is generated. For instance, rather than saving the file as header.gfx, a new file named header_new_27bb6e4d-5c27-4aef-bb13-ce28948fbee6 is created instead. For further reference, you can view the TechNote here: [Rockwell Automation Support](https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/40564). If you're experiencing similar issues with FTView SE or HMI servers, checking file permissions and logon settings may help resolve the problem.
WAG - Could you please restart those servers? When I was collaborating with FT, a simple server reboot often resolved various technical issues.
Bob O mentioned: "WAG - Could you please reboot those servers? During my experience with FT, I found that a simple reboot often resolved various issues." After expanding on the details, he added, "I've already restarted the HMI servers; however, I hadn't yet rebooted the directory. I just completed the reboot for the directory, but I'm still encountering the same error."
To resolve the issue, navigate to your Program Files directory and locate Rockwell Software, then open the RSView Enterprise folder. Double-click on the RSViewWebManager.exe file. This action may help with re-synchronizing users for Internet Information Services (IIS).
