**Utilizing a Single Turn Absolute Rotary Encoder as a Multi-turn Encoder with Micrologix 1100 PLC and RSLogix Software** Are you looking for ways to leverage a single turn absolute rotary encoder to function like a multi-turn encoder using Micrologix 1100 PLC with RSLogix software? I'm working with an affordable 16 PPR, 4-bit encoder due to budget constraints, and I'm trying to modify the PLC program to count the pulses in a manner that simulates multi-turn functionality. I'm considering employing the masked move instruction to extend the bit count into a word, but I find myself at a standstill. Is this approach feasible? Any assistance or guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
To implement this functionality, simply write a snippet of code that processes each of the four bits separately, directing them to a designated internal address. As the counter resets from 15 to 0, ensure to increment an additional internal address. This way, you'll have the least significant digit stored in one address and the most significant digit in another. If you wish to obtain the complete number, you can easily combine these two values afterward. Best regards,
