Is RSLogix Micro Starter Lite Still Accessible?

Question:

I am wondering if the micro starter lite version of Logix 500 is still available. Despite trying multiple links, I have been unsuccessful due to AB redesigning their website over time. I have Logix5000 for my CompactLogix, but I need to work on an older SLC system. Unfortunately, someone else has our laptop with the necessary software. It would be beneficial to have access to the micro starter lite version to sketch out ideas and then send them for implementation. Thank you for any assistance!

I understand your frustration in trying to locate specific products on the Product Compatibility and Download Center. To make your search easier, visit the PCDC at https://compatibility.rockwellautomation.com/Pages/home.aspx and enter "RSLogix Micro Starter Lite" in the search bar. Make sure to click on "Add to Download Cart" when the result appears, as selecting "Downloads" will lead you to MicroLogix firmware instead of the RSLogix 500 Micro Starter Lite download. Don't forget to provide feedback on the website's user-friendliness through the "Send Feedback" feature after completing your download. Your input will help improve the overall experience for other users.

Is there a new source to download Micro Starter Lite from Rockwell now that the original download location is no longer available?

From my experience, Rockwell Automation sometimes discontinues older products, which might explain the difficulty you're having in locating the micro starter lite version of Logix 500. That said, you might want to reach out directly to them for an official response. Alternatively, if you have a maintenance agreement or TechConnect support, they may be able to provide you with a direct download link or possibly a disc copy. However, if all else fails, maybe consider obtaining the Logix Pro 500 simulator as it's an ideal tool for learning the fundamentals of RSLogix 500 ladder logic programming. Remember, for these older SLC systems, you don't necessarily need the latest and greatest software. Hope this helps!

I can relate to your predicament, it can be quite frustrating when digital platforms change their layout. As for your main concern, as far as I'm aware, Rockwell discontinued their Micro Starter Lite version a while back. However, you can still lay your hands on the RSLogix Micro Starter Non-Lite version which has similar functionality. One alternative could be to use third-party platforms or forums, but do be wary of the potential risks involved. Lastly, just for future reference, investing in a few extra laptops or external drives for backup copies of your software could really save you some hassle! Best of luck!
