Looking for Modern Alternatives to Dataport for PLC Data Integration Solutions

Question:

Hello everyone! I'm reaching out to see if someone can assist me in locating a software solution. We have a project in place that relies on an SLC 5/05, RSlinx, and Dataport from Webdock to write data to an Access database based on PLC trigger events. I'm in search of a modern alternative, but it seems that the original company is no longer operational. Does anyone have knowledge of similar products to Dataport? Thank you in advance for your help! Best, John

Subject: Quick Guide to Dataport and AdvancedHMI for PLC Data Logging Hi John, I wanted to reach out regarding Dataport, as I'm not well-acquainted with its features and specifications. If you're looking for an efficient method to extract data from a PLC and transfer it into a database, I suggest using AdvancedHMI. This is a free software tool that operates within Visual Studio. You can find it here: [AdvancedHMI on SourceForge](https://sourceforge.net/projects/advancedhmi/). AdvancedHMI supports several Allen Bradley drivers, including: - Allen Bradley DF1 RS232 Driver - Allen Bradley Ethernet/IP Driver compatible with SLC, MicroLogix, PLC5, ControlLogix, and CompactLogix. For more detailed information about data logging with AdvancedHMI, you can refer to their basic data logging guide here: [AdvancedHMI Forum](https://www.advancedhmi.com/forum/index.php?topic=219.0). I hope this information proves helpful to you! Best regards, [Your Name]

Hi John! It sounds like you’re doing some interesting work with the SLC 5/05 setup. While Dataport might be hard to replace directly, you could check out products like Kepware’s KEPServerEX, which facilitates robust communication between PLCs and databases. Another option is Ignition by Inductive Automation; it offers powerful integration capabilities and has good support for SQL databases. Both have active communities and a wealth of resources to help you transition smoothly. Hope this helps!
