Rockwell TechConnect: Compatibility for PanelBuilder32 Legacy Software

Question:

Can anyone using TechConnect confirm if it offers compatibility for legacy software, particularly older editions of PanelBuilder32? I am attempting to restore a vintage PanelView 1000 (2711-t10c8) and require an outdated firmware version to restore its functionality. The Product Compatibility & Download Center by Rockwell only provides the latest 2 versions of PanelBuilder32 for download. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I personally only need 2 licenses, but if you have an older license, you can still use it to download the software.

As robertmee mentioned, I only need two. However, if you have an older license, you can still access the download. I am looking for PanelView firmware version PB32 v3.80, specifically FW 4.0 or 4.2, which dates back quite a while. Thank you for looking into this.

Rveez expressed gratitude for the confirmation. The PanelView firmware versions needed (FW 4.0 or 4.2) are included in version PB32 v3.80, which dates back quite a while. However, I am currently using version 3.83 of the firmware.

It seems that he is interested in acquiring the firmware file, rather than just viewing it in PB32. The file is typically installed in a directory on the hard drive, but if it's not found there, it can also be located on the CD in a designated folder.

Alan_505 mentioned the importance of obtaining the firmware file, not just being able to view it in PB32. In the past, the firmware would install in a specific directory on the hard drive or could be found on the CD in a designated folder. Rockwell's KB indicates that this version is available on PB32 version 3.5. However, Rockwell no longer allows downloads of firmware that old and requires updating to the latest supported version. If you are unable to locate a physical copy, consider updating to the most recent firmware version. Rockwell advises users to visit the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center (PCDC) website to find the firmware for the PanelView Component 2711-T10C8. Simply enter "PanelView Component" in the product search window to access the full range of PanelView Component products. The firmware for the 2711-T10C8 can be downloaded along with the firmware for the PanelView Component 4-inch terminal types.

While I can't speak to the specific version of PanelBuilder32 you're after, I've been in a similar situation with TechConnect. What I've found helpful is reaching out directly to TechConnect's customer support. They've been able to provide me with older versions of software that aren't readily available for download. It's worth giving it a shot to restore your vintage PanelView 1000. Best of luck!

Absolutely! TechConnect should support older versions of PanelBuilder32. However, you might need to go through their support, as those versions are not always readily available for download on their website. Another option could be obtaining a second-hand disc with the version you need for your PanelView if TechConnect doesn't provide it. Just remember to check the legitimacy of the seller. It's truly amazing you're attempting to restore a vintage PanelView 1000. Best of luck with your project!

While TechConnect does not directly support older versions of PanelBuilder32, you may try to overcome this problem by using a Virtual Machine with a version of Windows OS that supports your legacy software. It's not an entirely straightforward process, but there are detailed walkthroughs available on the internet that could guide you through it. In addition, get in touch with Rockwell's tech support - they might have an archived version of the firmware you're looking for.

I've had a similar challenge with older software and can empathize with your situation. From my experience, TechConnect might provide some level of support for legacy software, but it really hinges on the specific agreements you have with Rockwell. I suggest reaching out directly to their support team; they might have resources or recommendations for accessing older firmware versions that aren’t listed online. Additionally, joining specific forums or user groups focused on legacy Rockwell products can sometimes yield surprising leads from fellow enthusiasts who have encountered the same issues. Good luck with your PanelView restoration!
