Hello there, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide me with a sample configuration for Prosoft MVI56 DNP based on their personal experience. Your insight is invaluable, thank you in advance.
Are you well-versed in DNP? Unlike Modbus, DNP is a highly intricate protocol that may be challenging to understand. If you're looking to access the base configuration ladders, you can find them on ProSoft's product page. However, I would advise against using ProSoft's DNP module as I found it to be cumbersome. Instead, I suggest considering Triangle Microwork's SCADAGateway software or SEL's RTAC for a more efficient and reliable alternative.
I previously used them for Profibus, but was dissatisfied with the experience. SST is a superior option. What specific requirements do you have? Prosoft offers AOI and EDS for easy plug-and-play integration. Simply ensure you have the necessary GSD files for your devices and create a pb5 configuration file to transfer to the module.
Hi! I've used Prosoft MVI56 DNP before. However, unfortunately, it's quite a complex setup and a simple forum post might not cover all the nuances. I'd recommend checking Prosoft's own documentation or their technical support for detailed guidance. From my end, remember to double-check your device's DNP points, formats, and addresses, as well as communication parameters like port speed and IP addresses. Networks can be tricky, troubleshooting step by step can really make a difference. Don't forget to save and download to the module after making changes. Good luck!
Hi, I've been working with the Prosoft MVI56 DNP for quite a while. A quick tip, for your module setup, it's more about the DNP objects in use and less about the module configuration. For example, if Analogs are in use, objects 30, 31, and 32 are needed. For binary inputs, objects 1, 2, are usually seen. Assignments of object group/variation, map positions, and DNP addresses can be varied and geared to fit your specific needs. You can also get in touch with Prosoft Technology's technical support, they've always been super helpful in my experience.
