Troubleshooting Allen Bradley HMI User Creation in Factory Talk View Machine Edition

Question:

Hello, I am experienced in working with Allen Bradley systems and recently encountered an issue while using Factory Talk View Machine Edition. Despite my experience, I have never been asked to create users via the runtime before. I added buttons on the HMI for "adding user" and "adding/removing users to groups" in order to create a new user named 2 with a basic password and assign them to the "administrators" group. However, when attempting to log in as user 2, I encountered a login denied error. Can anyone provide insight into why this may be happening? Thank you, Kevin.

The issue has been resolved by granting individual user level access instead of accessing the group as a whole.

Hi Kevin, it sounds like you've got a tricky situation there. If you followed all the necessary steps correctly, it could be an issue of permissions. Even though you added user 2 to the "administrators" group, they might not have been granted the sufficient privileges yet. You might want to recheck the access levels associated with the "administrators" group. Otherwise, the login denied error can also occur due to data replication delays in the system. Waiting for a bit or refreshing the system could also solve the problem. TowerDefense.

Hi Kevin, I think I might have the solution to your problem. Normally, in Factory Talk View ME, creating users requires a special privilege known as "security code". When you add the buttons on the HMI, ensure you're assigning the necessary security code that allows for user creation. If "user 2" was created without this security code, it might be why you're being blocked. After confirming this, also ensure that the user isn't locked out or inactivated. These two issues are often the culprits for login denied errors. Let me know if this solves your problem.
