Question:

I am currently facing difficulties assigning an IP address to my 1794-AENT module. Despite watching various instructional videos, I am unable to reset the module for the address assignment. To begin, turn off the power and set the dip switches to 888. After turning the power back on, wait for the AENT to boot up before turning it off again and setting the dip switches to 999. Your AENT is now prepared for Bootp configuration. Use Bootp to assign an IP address. Once the IP is assigned, locate the module in Linx, right-click, and adjust the module configuration to Static. If the module is already part of a Logix tree, open Logix instead. Navigate to the module, inhibit communications, go to the internet tab, switch to static, and then undo the inhibit.

Sorry to hear about the issue you're facing with your 1794-AENT module. I had a similar problem a few months ago. Have you tried to press and hold the IP Reset button for about five seconds? After that, use BOOTP/DHCP to assign the required IP address. Don’t forget to make sure that you’ve disabled the BOOTP/DHCP once you’ve assigned the IP address. If you provide more specific information about the problem, I might be able to guide you better.

Hey there! I've had a similar issue with my 1794-AENT module. For resetting the IP address, did you try using the BOOTP/DHCP server? You should tentatively assign an IP, then disable BOOTP/DHCP. This way you're indirectly resetting the IP. Also, make sure the device is correctly powered, because without sufficient power you won't be able to assign the IP. Just trying to cover all bases here. Let me know if this helps or if you've already tried this method. We'll figure it out!

I had a similar issue with my 1794-AENT module not too long ago. What worked for me was to connect to the module via BootP/DHCP Server software from Rockwell Automation. Once I had that installed, I was able to assign the module an IP address by first releasing the currently assigned IP, and then using the software to assign a new one. If this doesn't do the trick, you might want to check with the company or distributor from which you procured the module, as your issue could pertain to a faulty module. Good luck!

Have you tried checking the dip switch settings or ensuring that your Ethernet cable is properly connected? Sometimes, simply power cycling the module can help too. If you can still access the configuration utility, that’s usually the best method to assign the IP address. If you’re stuck, I’m happy to help troubleshoot further—feel free to DM me your email, and we can dig into it together!

It sounds like you're having a tough time with the 1794-AENT module! Have you tried connecting to it using the RSLogix 5000 software? Sometimes, ensuring you’re on the right network and that the module is powered up can help you reset and assign an IP address. Also, double-check if there's a reset button on the module; that can often resolve issues. If you’re still stuck, I’d be happy to chat further—just let me know!

I totally understand the frustration! Have you tried accessing the module's web interface directly? Sometimes, a simple power cycle can reset it. Make sure you're also using the correct subnet mask and gateway settings during the assignment process. If nothing else works, the manual usually has troubleshooting sections that can be really helpful. Feel free to share a bit more about what steps you've already taken, and maybe we can pinpoint where things are going awry!
