I recently accessed BACnet data values with Node-RED by obtaining the unique IP address for a specific device and attempting to read the Present Values. However, I am now experiencing difficulties reading BACnet MS/TP through Node-RED. Are there any specific palettes that I should install for this? I am currently utilizing Node-RED on my local PC connected to the client server. I successfully read the values using YABE. My objective with Node-RED is to convert them into modbus. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I frequently utilize Node-Red in my projects, however, I am not familiar with BACnet. I recently came across a helpful spreadsheet created by another individual that may contain valuable information for you. This spreadsheet was designed to facilitate communication between an OPTO22 controller (which integrates with Node-Red) and BACnet. Feel free to check out the file named Epic_Bacnet.xlsx. -Nick
Manglemender mentioned using Node-RED extensively, but is not familiar with BACnet. They shared a helpful spreadsheet designed for communication between an OPTO22 controller (which includes Node-RED) and BACnet. The file, Epic_Bacnet.xlsx, may contain useful information for integrating the two systems. Thank you so much for sharing this valuable resource!
Hey there, the issues might be due to the fact that Node-RED, in its native form, doesn't support MS/TP protocol, which is a serial communication over RS-485. One solution might be to employ a BACnet/IP router to convert your MS/TP data to BACnet/IP, which can be easily used in Node-RED. For the conversion to Modbus, you might want to try the node-red-contrib-modbus palette. It works well for converting data to Modbus, though some configuration might be needed initially. Remember to ensure the device's data types and addresses align properly to prevent any complications.

Answer: Answer: To troubleshoot reading BACnet MS/TP data in Node-RED, you may need to install additional palettes that support BACnet communication protocols. Consider looking for BACnet-specific palettes or nodes that can interface with BACnet devices.
Answer: Answer: Yes, Node-RED on a local PC can be used to read BACnet values from a client server. Ensure that the necessary configurations are in place, such as having the correct IP address for the device and the appropriate communication settings.
Answer: Answer: To convert BACnet data into modbus using Node-RED, you may need to implement a flow that reads the BACnet data values and then transforms them into modbus-compatible data formats. Consider using function nodes or existing modbus nodes within Node-RED to facilitate this conversion process.
