Hello, I am seeking assistance with setting up communication between a KTP900 Basic (ETH) and two PLCs (S7-1500 and S7-200). I have successfully established a connection between the HMI and the S7-1500, but I am experiencing difficulties with the S7-200 communicating with the HMI. I have verified that all connections are properly configured, although I recently discovered that the "expansion slot" and "rack" are blocked. I am able to ping every hardware device on the network. Any suggestions on resolving this communication issue would be greatly appreciated.
Have you attempted to use the s7200 driver instead of the 1500 driver to see if it works? It seems unlikely that both drivers could function simultaneously.
I appreciate your response. However, when I only connect the MHI to the S7-200 PLC, there is no communication established.
Hi there, sounds like you're dealing with a bit of a complex situation here. Your successful connection with the S7-1500 suggests you're on the right track. Now, for the S7-200 issue, it might not be about your connection configuration, but more about the CPU and memory allocation, especially since you mentioned a blocked "expansion slot" and "rack". It's vital that you ensure the S7-200's CPU isn't in STOP mode and has appropriate memory resources allocated. Also, it might be helpful to check your device's settings on the STEP 7 Micro/WIN software to ensure everything is well-configured.
Given your current situation, it appears the issue might be the different communication protocols used by the S7-1500 and the S7-200. The S7-1500 uses Profinet while the S7-200 uses PPI or MPI. The KTP900 Basic (ETH) is also designed for Profinet communication. One possible solution could be to use a communication processor that converts PPI/MPI to Profinet. Additionally, double-check to see if your settings in TIA Portal Network view are correct, as misconfigured settings can sometimes block the communication. Be sure to keep us updated on your progress!
You may want to check the firmware version of the S7-200. In some cases, older versions may not effectively communicate with the KTP900 Basic. If that's not the issue, you may want to inspect the specifics of your settings in your TIA Portal for the S7-200 connection. Make sure all parameters align with the PLC’s parameters, particularly the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. These common troubleshooting steps often help to resolve similar issues.
It sounds like you're on the right track with your setup! Since you've already established communication with the S7-1500 and confirmed that you can ping all devices, it might be worth double-checking the communication settings specific to the S7-200. Look closely at the PLC's configuration—ensure the correct protocol is set (like ISO-on-TCP) since the older S7-200s can be a bit tricky. Also, check if there are any network restrictions or firewall settings that could be affecting communication. If the expansion slot and rack are blocked, it might also help to try and remove any unnecessary components or try a different slot if possible. Sometimes, simply rebooting the devices can also clear up lingering communication issues. Good luck!
