Troubleshooting Communication Setup of Mitsubishi R08SFCPU and RD78G8 with FR-E800SCE for CC-Link IE TSN

Question:

I am encountering difficulties in setting up an FR-E800SCE for use on CC-Link IE TSN. It appears that the issue lies with the drive, as I am not getting a link light on the port when I connect the network cable. While the port functions correctly when I connect my laptop using FR-Configurator, it is not being recognized as CC-Link TSN by the RD78G8. I have adjusted the parameters P1427-30 to 45238 and tried various settings in P544 (CC-Link Extended setting), as well as setting S02 to 1 (Safety enable). Despite power cycling the PLC and drive after each change, I have been unable to make any progress. My servo drives and remote IO modules on CC-Link have functioning link lights, even without any configuration in the PLC.

The default communication speed for the RD78G8 card and servo drives is 1GB, while the FR-E800SCE inverters are limited to 100mb.

From your description, it sounds like you've done a thorough job with the troubleshooting. One thing that comes to mind is that the issue might not be due to the drive or the PLC, but rather with the cable itself or the connectors. Please ensure you are using a Category 5e or higher Ethernet cable which correctly follows the TIA/EIA-568-B wiring standard, as specified for CC-Link IE TSN. Check if the connectors are properly crimped as well. If you have another proven CC-Link IE TSN cable from a functioning setup, try using that to see if it changes anything.

It sounds like you've done a thorough job troubleshooting so far. Have you already checked the cable and connectors? It might also be worth checking if the firmware versions of FR-E800SCE and RD78G8 are compatible with each other for CC-Link IE TSN. Sometimes, the solution is as simple as a firmware update on one or both devices. Another thing to consider would be checking your IP settings. They should be in the same subnet. If all these checks turn out fine, it might be a hardware issue where you could probably benefit from contacting the manufacturer's support line.

You seem to have a handful there, my friend! While I'm not an expert in FR-E800SCE, your description makes me wonder if it might be a firmware issue. Make sure you're running the latest firmware. If the issue persists, it might be worth resetting the FR-E800SCE to the factory default just to rule out any alterations that could be contributing to the issue. It's also important to cross-check the compatibility of your equipment. Sometimes, devices overlook detecting each other due to slight variances in their models or versions. Lastly, do verify your cabling and connectors. Better to address the known than unknown first. Best of luck with your setup!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

FAQ: FAQs:

Answer: 1. Why am I not getting a link light on the port when connecting the FR-E800SCE to CC-Link IE TSN? - The issue could be related to the drive settings or configuration. Ensure that the parameters P1427-30, P544, and S02 are correctly adjusted for CC-Link IE TSN compatibility.

FAQ: 2. How can I troubleshoot the recognition of the drive as CC-Link TSN by the RD78G8 PLC?

Answer: - Check the settings in both the drive and the PLC to ensure they are configured properly for CC-Link IE TSN communication. Verify parameters and settings related to CC-Link compatibility.

FAQ: 3. What steps can I take if power cycling the PLC and drive does not resolve the communication issue?

Answer: - Try reviewing the parameter settings again and ensure they are accurately set for CC-Link IE TSN communication. Also, double-check the physical connections and network configurations for any discrepancies.

FAQ: 4. Why are the servo drives and remote IO modules on CC-Link showing functioning link lights without any PLC configuration?

Answer: - It is possible that the servo drives and remote IO modules have default settings that allow them to show link lights even without specific PLC configuration. Check the documentation for these devices to understand their default behavior on CC-Link IE TSN.
