I am currently using a Automaton Direct EA7-T6CL+13812B141 HMI with C-more programming V 2.78. I have attempted to connect using various cables such as a USB cable and an Ethernet crossover cable, but I am unable to successfully read from the panel. Despite being able to access features like "Make New Project" and "Read From Disk", the option to read from the panel under the file menu is not functioning as intended. The manual provides instructions on three different connection methods: using an Ethernet cable with a switch or hub, a crossover cable directly to the panel, or a USB connection to the designated port on the panel. I have tested all methods except for the switch method and will try that next. Additionally, I have discovered the panel's IP address and successfully changed it to match my home network's IP (192.168.1.XXX), allowing me to access the panel through my web browser. However, I am still encountering difficulties in locating the panel within C-more. Any suggestions on why this issue persists would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

What is your current C-More software version? The latest version compatible with EA7 panels is 2.78, while newer versions are designed for the EA9 series exclusively. The great advantage is that you can run multiple versions simultaneously on your system.
Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but I encountered a similar issue where using the demo version of C-More 2.78 was the root cause. My solution involved reinstalling C-More and inputting my license number, which enabled the "Read from Panel" function, allowing me to successfully upload the project.
It seems like you've already done quite a bit of troubleshooting. Now, if you've followed the specifics of your device's manual and all seems correct, yet the problem persists, this might sound overly simplistic, but there's a chance the issue could be software-related. The version of C-more you're using might have a compatibility issue with your specific hardware or operating system or it may require an update. In addition, it's worth checking if there's a firmware update available for your HMI. Also, you might want to do a thorough check for any firewall or antivirus software that could potentially block the connection to your panel. Let us know how things progress!
From my experience, it sounds like you're dealing with a driver issue. Have you checked if the drivers for the HMI are updated on your PC? Also, since you're able to access the panel through your web browser, it signifies that the panel is operational and there's no hardware fault. As for the panel not being recognized in the C-more software, you may wish to re-install the software or try to run the software in compatibility mode. Lastly, double-checking the firewall settings on your computer could also turn up some answers, as they may block certain software communications if not set up properly.
It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already. Reading through your post, it occurred to me that your problem may not be with the connection methods. The issue might lie with the C-more software version you're using. Possibly, there's a compatibility issue with the particular HMI model you have, or perhaps a bug within the version itself that's hindering communication. You might want to try updating your software to the latest version to see if the functionality improves. Also, it might be worth checking if there are any driver updates needed for the hardware. Keep us updated on your progress.
It sounds like you’ve done a thorough job troubleshooting already! Since you've tried different connection methods and managed to change the panel's IP successfully, I recommend double-checking a few things in C-more. Make sure that the project settings in C-more match the communication settings of your HMI, especially the IP address and subnet mask. Sometimes the software might need a bit of nudging to recognize the panel, so restarting C-more after changing settings can help. If you're still having trouble, it might be worth checking if there’s a firmware update for the HMI or the C-more software, as newer versions sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Good luck, and I hope the switch method works out for you!
It sounds like you're on the right track trying different connection methods. Since you've reached the panel's web interface, that's a good sign, but the C-more software can be tricky with network settings sometimes. Make sure the subnet and gateway settings in the panel match those of your home network as well; sometimes, just changing the IP isn't enough if the other settings are off. Also, check if your firewall or antivirus might be blocking C-more from accessing the network. If possible, try an alternative device or software to see if you can ping the HMI and confirm they're communicating properly. Good luck, and I hope the switch method resolves everything!

Answer: Answer: If you are facing issues with reading from the panel using USB or Ethernet cables, it could be due to a connection problem or settings misconfiguration. Ensure that the cables are properly connected and try different connection methods as suggested in the manual.
Answer: Answer: If you have changed the panel's IP address to match your home network but still cannot locate it within C-more, try checking the network settings on both the panel and your computer to ensure they are on the same network. Additionally, verify that the panel's IP address is correctly set up in the C-more software.
Answer: Answer: If you are experiencing issues with the read function in C-more, consider trying different connection methods, updating the software, or checking for any software compatibility issues. It might also be helpful to consult the C-more programming manual or contact Automation Direct support for further assistance.
