Hello everyone, I am facing some challenges with connected components on my new laptop. I have successfully installed all the necessary RA programs, including CCW. However, I encounter an issue when trying to make changes in the program - "CCW Shell has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologize for the inconvenience" message pops up, causing CCW to restart. Despite searching through various forums, Rockwell's knowledge base, and seeking technical support, I have been unable to find a solution. I have also checked for security updates mentioned in some posts, but my computer does not have them. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, as well as reinstalling Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 without success. Have any of you experienced a similar issue or do you have any advice on how to resolve it? Thank you for your help!
I encountered an issue with a customer's system that required me to remove and reinstall CCW. It was quite challenging as I was accessing a virtual server remotely without the ability to transfer files. Thus, I had to download the correct version on my personal computer, share it via Google Drive with their IT department, and request them to place it on the server. Despite attempting various suggestions from RATech support all day, the issue persisted. Ultimately, I found the software to be unreliable and inefficient.
Hey there, I'll try to lend a hand. I remember encountering a somewhat similar issue a while ago. I noticed that it happened to be an issue with compatibility. Make sure your CCW version is compatible with your OS version. If that checks out, you might want to look at running CCW as an administrator - sometimes limited permissions can cause funny business! And, as an absolute last resort if all else fails, and if you haven't tried it yet: fully wipe CCW and any related files (including any hidden or left-over files from uninstalls) from your system before reinstalling. Good luck!
Hey there! I totally understand how frustrating that must be. I've had a similar issue with CCW before, and what worked for me was clearing out the temporary files and ensuring all dependencies were up to date. Sometimes, even conflicting software can cause those crashes, so maybe check if there are any recent patches for your OS or any background applications that might interfere with CCW. If you haven't already, consider running CCW as an administrator to see if that makes a difference. Good luck, and I hope you find a fix soon!
I can understand how frustrating that must be! I ran into a similar issue with CCW when I first set it up on my laptop. One thing that helped me was to ensure that all related components, including .NET Framework and any drivers needed for your hardware, were completely up to date. Sometimes, even minor updates can resolve those crashing issues. You might also want to try running CCW as an administrator or checking compatibility settings if you haven't done so already. If that doesn’t work, consider looking into any background software that might be conflicting with it; antivirus programs can sometimes cause these types of issues as well. Good luck, and I hope you find a solution soon!
Hey! I totally get your frustration—I had a similar issue with CCW on my laptop not too long ago. One thing that helped me was updating my .NET Framework and ensuring my graphics drivers were up to date. Sometimes, CCW can be picky with those components. Also, check your system for any conflicting software, especially antivirus programs, as they can sometimes interfere with applications like CCW. If you haven't tried running it as an administrator, that might also help. Good luck!
Hey there! I completely understand how frustrating this issue can be. I ran into something similar not too long ago. Have you tried running CCW as an administrator or checking for any compatibility settings that might help? Also, sometimes it can be helpful to check if there are any underlying Windows updates that you might have missed, as those can sometimes affect program stability. If all else fails, I’d suggest looking into whether there’s a newer version of CCW or any patches available that could resolve stability issues. Good luck!
