Our customers have not provided us with a stable connection for our **** Cosy 131 at their site. As a solution, I purchased a TP-Link 4G router and a data SIM card. Although I can easily connect to the **** and successfully ping the PLC and HMI, I am experiencing difficulty locating the devices in RSLinx. Although I can access the HMI through M2web and RealVNC, I am puzzled as to why the PLC is not appearing in RSLinx.
When connecting via a network switch in RSLinx, you must use the Ethernet Devices driver instead of the Ethernet I/P driver. This requires manually inputting the IP addresses for each device you are connecting.
It sounds like you're making good progress with the setup! If you can ping the PLC but it’s not showing in RSLinx, it could be a network configuration issue. Double-check the subnet mask and gateway settings on both the PLC and the router to ensure they’re on the same network. Also, make sure that the driver in RSLinx is set up correctly to point to the right IP address of the PLC. Sometimes, firewalls or security settings can block visibility too, so that’s worth checking. Good luck!

Answer: - This issue could be related to network configuration settings or firewall settings that may be blocking RSLinx from detecting the devices. Double-check the network configurations and ensure that the necessary ports are open for RSLinx to communicate with the devices.
Answer: - Start by verifying that the devices are all on the same network and subnet. Check the IP addresses assigned to each device and ensure they are reachable from one another. You may also need to configure port forwarding on the TP-Link router to allow proper communication between the devices.
Answer: - The discrepancy could be due to different protocols or settings required for accessing the HMI versus the PLC. Verify that the PLC is properly configured to communicate over the network and that RSLinx is set up correctly to recognize the PLC device. Additionally, check for any IP address conflicts or communication issues that may be affecting the visibility of the PLC in RSLinx.
