I used to configure a 525 VFD using a USB connection, but now I am unable to do so on Windows 10. Interestingly, my desktop running Windows 7 can still connect without any issues, but I am unable to adjust parameters. Even attempting to use CCW on Windows 10 is futile, leading me to believe that the problem lies with Windows 10 itself. What could be causing this connectivity issue on Windows 10?
It is unclear if CCW is currently compatible with Windows 10. It is recommended to confirm this compatibility before proceeding.
The thread discussing CCW compatibility with Windows 10 has been verified. It may be worth considering the USB driver as a potential solution. Regards,
I recently discovered a solution to a common issue with connecting a 523/525 device to a Windows 7 machine via USB and encountering a PF52XUSB.EXE file. To resolve this on a Windows 10 machine, I transferred the file from an older computer hooked up to a 523 to a USB stick. Then, on my Windows 10 PC, I right-clicked on the file and selected Troubleshoot Compatibility, choosing the recommended settings for Windows XP mode. Now, when connecting to a 523/525 on my Windows 10 machine, I simply click on the modified PF52XUSB.EXE file to run it in Windows XP mode. It's worth mentioning that no pop-ups occur when initially connecting the device on the Windows 10 machine - just click on the altered file to establish the connection.
It would be beneficial if RA updated their Tech Note with this workaround. It may prove to be a helpful addition for those facing similar issues.
Although this thread may be old, I truly appreciate you sharing the solution. I was in a panic trying to find the answer to the same issue, and thanks to you, I was able to resolve it. Your help is greatly valued.
It seems like you've narrowed it down to an issue with Windows 10, which is a good start. One possible cause of this issue might be the drivers; Windows 10 could be using a different driver version than Windows 7. I'd recommend checking to see if you have the most up-to-date driver version for your specific VFD on your Windows 10 machine. Alternatively, the issue could be with the USB ports on your Windows 10 machine. You could try connecting the VFD to different ports and see if that resolves the issue.
It does sound like a compatibility issue with Windows 10. Perhaps the drivers for the 525 VFD are not fully compatible with the newer system. If you haven't done so already, I suggest checking the manufacturer's website for any updated drivers compatible with Windows 10 that can recognize your VFD. Alternatively, you can also try running your VFD software in compatibility mode for Windows 7 on your Windows 10 system. This might allow your software to behave as it would on a Windows 7 system, potentially alleviating your connectivity issue. Hope this helps!
It sounds like a driver issue related to updates in Windows 10. The OS could be automatically installing its preferred driver, but this might not be fully compatible with the 525 VFD. I'd suggest visiting the manufacturer's website to download the most recent driver compatible with Windows 10 and install that manually. Don't forget to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating the driver in the future. Alternatively, you could also try running the software in Windows 7 compatibility mode to see if this solves the problem.

Answer: The compatibility of the USB connection with Windows 10 might be causing the issue. Windows 10 may require additional drivers or settings to communicate with the VFD.
Answer: The compatibility of Connected Components Workbench (CCW) software with Windows 10 might be a factor. Ensure that the CCW version you are using is compatible with Windows 10.
Answer: You can start by checking if the correct drivers are installed for the USB connection, ensuring that the VFD is recognized by Windows 10, and verifying the compatibility of software like CCW with the operating system.
Answer: Yes, the connectivity issue might be due to Windows 10 settings or permissions restricting the communication between the VFD and the operating system. Check the firewall settings and user permissions to ensure smooth connectivity.
Answer: You can try installing updated drivers specifically designed for Windows
