Hello everyone, I'm currently experiencing an issue with encoder adjustment on the Sew Electric Cylinder CMS71L. The encoder being used is the Sick HiperfaceDrive and the drive is the MOVIDRIVE B (MDX61B). I followed the following procedure: - Released the brake and applied 10V DC to the V and W terminals (-ve to V, +ve to W), then held the brake and fitted the encoder. - Connected to MOVIDRIVE B and connected the drive to movitool for encoder adjustment. Issue 1: However, I encountered errors during the encoder adjustment process and was unable to complete it. After several hardware adjustments, I was able to successfully finish the encoder adjustment. Issue 2: Unfortunately, while running the motor, it displayed an encoder error after some time. I hope this explanation clarifies the problem. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving these issues. Thank you.
Can you please provide the part number for your encoder?
DarrylR inquired about the encoder part numbers for the motors in use. One motor is equipped with the SRM50-HZA0-S05 encoder, another with the SRM50-HZZ0-S21 encoder, and a third motor with the SRM50S-HFZ0-S22 encoder.
Which interface card should I use for my system? Options include the DEH11B, DEU21B...
What specific error or errors are currently appearing on your screen?
DarrylR inquired about which interface card to use, mentioning options such as DEH11B and DEU21B. Click to expand for more information on the DEH11B card.
Hello, Sorry to hear about the issues you're facing with your Sick HiperfaceDrive encoder and your MOVIDRIVE B. It sounds like you've done a good job troubleshooting so far. Concerning the encoder error you encounter while running the motor, a few things come to mind. Faulty wiring could be a possibility - so double-checking all of your connections might be beneficial. You might also want to ensure that your cables are adequately shielded and grounded since electromagnetic noise could sometimes cause errors. Finally, it could be worthwhile to test the encoder separately, perhaps it's faulty. I hope this helps, keep us posted on your progress.
Hey there, it sounds like you're having a bit of a rough time with that encoder. I've run into similar issues before with the Sick HiperfaceDrive. From your description, it seems like there might be a compatibility issue between the encoder and the drive. If you've followed the steps correctly (which it sounds like you have), there shouldn't be an error popping up. In this case, I'd suggest checking the model and version of both the drive and the encoder, and then cross-referencing with the manufacturer’s specs to ensure compatibility. If everything seems alright on that end, it's possible that the encoder itself might be faulty. Resetting or replacing it could potentially solve the problem.
Hi there, Sounds like you've run into some tricky issues. If you've already completed the hardware adjustments and encoder adjustments successfully once, a persistent encoder error might indicate that there's a problem either with the encoder itself or its connection to the drive. I suggest double checking the wiring and connections first. If everything seems fine there, you might need to consider replacing the encoder. Also, make sure you've set everything correctly on the MoviTools software, as incorrect configuration can sometimes cause issues. Lastly, remember that the environment can influence encoder performance, so make sure there's no dust or anything that could interfere with the signal. Good luck!
Sounds like a tricky situation you've got there. With regard to the encoder error while running the motor, it could be due to a variety of issues such as a faulty encoder, cable issues or even software malfunctions. On the hardware side, you might want to check all the cable connections and ensure that the encoder is properly aligned. If the problem persists, it could be a software related issue. You can try resetting the parameters, or if possible, trying a different MOVIDRIVE. Also, don't forget to recalibrate after every hardware adjustment. I hope this helps!
Hi there! It sounds like you’ve put in a lot of effort to get your encoder adjusted, and those errors can be really frustrating. For the encoder error during motor operation, have you checked the wiring and connections again? Sometimes a loose wire can cause intermittent errors. Also, it might be worth recalibrating the parameters in Movitool to ensure the drive is correctly interpreting signals from the encoder. If you haven't done so already, updating the firmware for both the encoder and the drive could also help resolve compatibility issues. Good luck, and I hope you can sort this out soon!
It sounds like you're dealing with quite a bit of frustration with the encoder adjustments! For the encoder error during operation, it might be worth double-checking the wiring and connections to ensure everything is secure and properly insulated. Sometimes, even slight movement can lead to intermittent issues. Additionally, reviewing the parameters for the Sick HiperfaceDrive in movitool could provide insights into any specific settings you might have missed. If you've done all that and still face issues, consider reaching out to Sick's technical support, as they might have more specialized advice for your specific configuration. Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted soon!

Answer: Answer: Errors during the encoder adjustment process could be caused by incorrect wiring, faulty components, or improper setup. It is important to double-check the connections and follow the adjustment procedure accurately.
Answer: Answer: To troubleshoot encoder adjustment issues, ensure that all connections are secure and correct, follow the adjustment procedure provided by the manufacturer, and check for any error messages or indicators on the drive interface.
Answer: Answer: When encountering an encoder error while running the motor, it is recommended to check the encoder connections, verify the encoder settings in the drive software, and inspect the encoder itself for any damage or malfunctions. Repeating the adjustment process may also help resolve the issue.
