Currently, I am using an Allen Bradley PanelView 5310 at a client's location and using a remote module Flexy 205 to access the PLC/HMI local network. However, I am facing an issue every time I attempt to download a project into the HMI, encountering an error in the process. Despite being able to establish communication with the HMI and ping both the PLC and HMI successfully, the problem persists. Additionally, both devices are visible online in RsLink Classic. Are there specific parameters in RsLink or Studio 5000 View Designer that need to be configured to resolve this issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.
Setting the gateway of the HMI to the IP address of the Flexy may be necessary. This action ensures proper communication between the two devices.
I encountered a similar issue while attempting to download to a PanelView 5310 via a remote network connection. The process worked smoothly while I was at the shop or connected through a VPN from a nearby hotel. However, it failed when I tried to download from a location across the Atlantic. The ControlLogix on the same connection was slow, but still able to successfully download and upload data. This led me to believe that the PanelView 5310 may have fixed timeout values that cannot be adjusted. To work around this issue, I started emailing *.VPDR runtime files to an onsite technician who then loaded them using the System menu screens and a USB drive.
I have already configured the gateway in the PLC and HMI to the local address of the flexy. Appreciate your assistance.
I appreciate the insights, Ken. My client's location is about a two-hour drive from my office. It is possible that the slow internet speed at their site is causing the connectivity issue with the PLC, as you mentioned. Despite being able to connect, the connection is still frustratingly slow.
I am facing a similar issue with my Secomea remote system. The problem arises when the current application gets corrupted during the download process, rendering it unusable. The only solution is to send the runtime file (vpdr) through the Cloud as Outlook Windows has banned the extension. Upgrading to a newer firmware may improve the download speed, as I have observed with the PLC. The newer firmware has significantly enhanced the download speed through Secomea.
It sounds like you're on the right track with checking your connectivity. One thing to consider is ensuring that the IP address settings in the HMI and the Flexy 205 match the subnet of your PLC. Double-check the project settings in Studio 5000 to make sure that the communication settings are correctly set up for the PanelView 5310. Sometimes, an incorrect path for the data source can lead to download errors, so re-confirm that as well. If everything seems correct, it might also help to power cycle the HMI or Flexy, just to reset any lingering communication issues. Good luck!
It sounds like you're on the right track with your setup given that you can ping the devices and see them in RsLink. One thing to check is the configuration of your RSLink Classic, particularly the Ethernet settings for both your HMI and PLC; ensure that the directory paths are correctly set for the project youβre trying to download. Also, consider whether the HMI runtime version matches the application you're uploading from Studio 5000; version mismatches can often lead to download errors. Lastly, sometimes clearing the cache or even rebooting the devices can help reset any temporary issues. Keep us posted on what you find!
