Troubleshooting FactoryTalk AssetCentre Client Access Issue on Multiple User Accounts

Question:

Hello everyone! I have successfully installed FactoryTalk AssetCentre (FTAC) on a single PC using the Admin account. This PC is accessible by multiple users. However, when I try to launch the FTAC client using a different user account, the application fails to run and errors are displayed in the event viewer. This issue is with FTAC V11.

Greetings, based on the error displayed in the screenshot, it appears that a gMSA account was utilized during the installation process. To resolve this issue, it is essential to ensure that all other Windows users are included in the FactoryTalk Administrators group within the Admin Console. Additionally, verify that they are not members of any other FactoryTalk groups that could potentially impose limitations.

Hello there! It sounds like the other user accounts might not have the necessary permissions to run FTAC. Typically, programs installed with admin privileges might restrict access to other users. You might want to check FTAC’s user privilege settings or consider reinstalling the software on a less privileged account for shared accessibility. Remember the principle of least privilege - it's generally good practice to give only the necessary permissions for user accounts to function to help prevent unwanted changes or potential security breaches. Good luck!

Hi, it sounds like the issue might be related to user permissions since you installed FTAC using the Admin account. In general, software installations, particularly something like FactoryTalk AssetCentre, require specific permissions to ensure other users can access them properly. My suggestion is to check and possibly modify the permissions associated with the software on your PC. Make sure that each user account logged in will have the necessary rights to run the application. Hope this helps!

Hey there! From your explanation, it might be that FTAC is installed for the admin user only. Try granting the required permissions to other users to access the application. Also, check the software requirements; there might be a specific component that needs to be installed on each user's profile for it to run successfully. But bear in mind that sharing a single FTAC installation across multiple user accounts isn't ideal because it undermines individual configuration settings. It might be better to install it separately for each user account. Hope this helps!
