Troubleshooting H2-ERM100 and H2-EBC100 Communication Issues in DirectLogic 205 Controllers

Question:

Hello! I am currently working with a DirectLogic 205 controller connected to an H2-ERM100 remote I/O module and an H2-EBC100 Ethernet module. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing communication issues, as the ERM100 is displaying an error indicator. Initially, I was using a crossover cable for a direct connection between the modules, but at the moment, I have temporarily set up a spare switch to connect the computer and both Ethernet modules. However, the problem persists: - The ERM Workbench wizard consistently fails during the "Write to ERM..." step, showing a "Timeout" error. - I can see both modules in Hub mode using NetEdit3 without any issues. - DoMore software won't proceed without resolving this error, leaving me stuck. I would appreciate any troubleshooting tips or advice from the community regarding this communication breakdown. Thank you!

The thread available at http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=96061 addresses important topics related to IP addresses and firewall configurations. For further insights, I recommend examining Chapter 6 of the manual found here: https://cdn.automationdirect.com/static/manuals/h24ermm/h24erm_m.pdf, which focuses on Maintenance and Troubleshooting, specifically on isolating communication issues. Here are a few additional considerations to keep in mind. Best regards!

Hey there! It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue. Since you mentioned that the ERM100 is showing an error indicator and the timeouts during the Write to ERM step, I would suggest checking the IP address configuration for both the ERM100 and your computer to ensure they’re on the same subnet. Sometimes a simple mismatch can cause communication problems. Additionally, double-check the Ethernet cables for any damage, especially since you initially used a crossover cable; using a straight-through cable with a switch setup is usually best. If everything looks good, try resetting the ERM100 and then re-attempt the write process. Good luck, and I hope you find a fix soon!
