Troubleshooting Issues with FactoryTalk Transfer Utility Opening in FT View Studio

Question:

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted. I am currently experiencing issues with opening Transfer Utility as a standalone or through FT View Studio. I have tried reinstalling FT View Studio, Linx Classic, FactoryTalk Linx, and Transfer Utility, but I am still encountering errors. Error 1: When trying to open FactoryTalk Linx, I receive an internal error message instructing me to close FT View and stop the FT Linx service before proceeding. Additionally, I am getting an error message stating "Failed to initialize component manager." Error 2: Transfer Utility is showing an error related to the FT Linx Comms Tree ActiveX Control not being able to load. It suggests that I reinstall FactoryTalk Linx. I am running Windows 10 Enterprise with FT Studio version 12 and Linx version 4.2. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Can you please share how you resolved this problem? I am experiencing the same issue and could use some guidance.

Hey there! It sounds like you've been troubleshooting quite a bit already. Have you tried running the programs as an administrator? Sometimes, permission issues can cause these kinds of problems. Also, make sure all components of FactoryTalk are compatible with your version of Windows 10 – updating to the latest service pack or version could help too. If you haven't, checking the event viewer in Windows might give you more insight into what's wrong. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
