We are currently experiencing issues with our Unitronics V570 controller, which manages three drying rooms for wood. Initially, the system operated smoothly for several months with no apparent problems. However, since the departure of the original programmer, who attempted to assist remotely without success, we have encountered a persistent malfunction. After performing a fresh software upload, we find that we can control the drying rooms as intended for about 3 to 5 minutes. However, attempting to shut down kiln 1 or 2 during this period results in the system freezing, making it impossible to switch from automatic mode to timer or off. Following this, we contacted the last programmer who had modified the software. He accessed our PC remotely and managed to activate certain functions, leading him to conclude that the PLC was faulty. In response, we ordered a new PLC and uploaded the original software, which had previously worked without issues, yet we are facing the same problem again. Despite reaching out to various contacts for support, we've struggled to find a solution. We seek the insights of knowledgeable individuals in this field for assistance and guidance. Currently, when we press the virtual off button, the ladder logic changes to red in the table, but upon releasing the button, it reverts to black, failing to latch. The malfunction initially began with room 2, where the fans became stuck, preventing us from using the PLC to shut down that room. After troubleshooting, room 1 also locked up, creating a continuous cycle of issues. We have reinstalled the software, replaced the PLC, and even tested the system without the I/O board; however, the results remain unchanged. We appreciate any expertise or recommendations you may provide. Thank you!
I’m not familiar with Utronics PLC, but I'm aware of Unitronics. Is that the one you’re referring to? Although I haven’t directly worked with a Unitronics PLC, I understand that it integrates both a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and a Human-Machine Interface (HMI). The problem you're describing—being unable to switch from auto mode to timer or turn it off—could indicate potential communication issues between the HMI and the PLC. If you need help troubleshooting, I’d be happy to assist!
I appreciate your patience! As a retired computer technician transitioning into maintenance, I'm navigating through new challenges. Thank you for your understanding!
Have you reached out to the technical support team at Unitronics for assistance?
I have had an open support ticket for two days without receiving any response. To ensure my request is addressed, I've submitted an additional ticket as a precaution in case the initial one was overlooked. Thank you for your assistance!
Please compress and attach the program file. I assume that since you've transferred it to new hardware, you possess the necessary programming software and cables to connect to the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). Could you please specify which contact or ladder rung you were monitoring that activated but failed to latch?
