Troubleshooting Locked Device Issue with GE Versamax Controller in Proficy Machine Edition - Seeking Help with Student License

Question:

Hello everyone, I am the owner of a GE Versamax controller that I purchased during a class at Long Beach City College a few years back. Unfortunately, I have lost access to my license, which should not have expired as it was a student license. I have been utilizing it for training purposes in my garage, but recently encountered an issue where Proficy Machine Edition is indicating that my device is "Locked" in the license manager. Could this be related to the acquisition of the GE controller division by Emerson? Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. If I am unable to resolve this issue, I may have to consider selling it on platforms like Ebay, although I am keen on furthering my knowledge with it. Thank you.

To verify the status of your license, run the Proficy License Viewer tool. Keep in mind that certain licenses may have an expiration date. If yours has expired, simply uninstall and reinstall PME to receive a complimentary four-day trial license. You can repeat this process as many times as needed until you determine that the cost of acquiring a license is more valuable than the time spent reinstalling. Opting for the VersaMax Micro license is a cost-effective choice.

Thank you for your prompt response. If my student license continues to have issues, this could be a viable option. Attached below is an image of the License Viewer showing my student license from Long Beach City College, which is perpetual. There have been validation issues with the license since Emerson acquired it, preventing me from completing the licensing process due to a connection loss to the GE server. Despite reaching out to Emerson customer service via phone and email, I have not made any progress with their offshore call center. If I opt for the 4-day trial, will I be downloading PME from Emerson? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The screenshot displays a license for Logic Developer PC, designed for a computer-based logic engine. Please note, this license is not compatible with your VersaMax PLC. Scroll down to check if you have a valid license for Logic Developer PLC. In order to proceed with the uninstallation/reinstallation process, you will require either the installation CD or the downloaded installation file. It is important to note that downloading from Emerson without proper authorization is not permitted.

Here are the specifics for Logic Developer PLC. I attempted to register an account with Emerson in order to access the latest version of PME, but they do not cater to non-commercial users, as evidenced by the rejection of both my Gmail and Outlook email addresses.

When using Proficy Machine Edition, if you see a message saying your device is "Locked" in the license manager, it typically means your license is tied to a specific computer and cannot be transferred. If you are experiencing issues with your license, such as receiving a message like "Warning: Found unlicensed target" when opening a project, it may indicate a problem with your licensing. Can you provide more details on what you mean by "lost the use of my license"?
