Hello everyone, I am in need of assistance with my FactoryTalk software. After encountering connectivity issues on a virtual machine running Windows 7, I transferred the program to Windows 10. Although Rockwell Tech support re-activated it for me on version 13, I faced challenges with my HMI not recognizing tags in an updated project. In an attempt to resolve this, I mistakenly reset my HMI to version 9. Now, I am unable to access the ME Firmware Wizard despite having version 12 installed. Any guidance on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I have already reached out to my distributor for help. Thank you.
I discovered the reason behind my project suddenly stopping - it's often the small details that slip through the cracks when you're not regularly working on something. I realized that I had neglected to tick the "Replace RSLinx Communication" box in the Transfer Utility, which should be the default setting. Now, I'm troubleshooting why the ME Firmware Upgrade is not opening. I continue to investigate this issue.
Are you able to troubleshoot the reason behind the malfunction of the firmware upgrade wizard not opening? I am experiencing the exact same problem, with no error code or indication provided.
brendo018 inquired if the firmware upgrade wizard issue had been resolved, as they were experiencing the same problem without receiving any error codes. However, despite contacting IT and the distributor, no progress has been made. If a solution is found, please provide an update.
forqnc reported that despite reaching out to our distributor through our IT department, we are still at a standstill. If you come across a solution, kindly share it for everyone's benefit. As for my own troubleshooting efforts, I dedicated a few hours to trying different approaches. I contacted Rockwell for assistance, but they were not able to provide a resolution. Upon discovering that I was using the August 2023 version (version 13 ME), I proceeded to install the September patch roll up, which successfully resolved the issue. I also noticed that an October patch roll up is available on the website. Additionally, consider repairing your FactoryTalk Services Platform through Programs and Features in the Control Panel. If this does not resolve the issue and you are already on the latest patch roll up, you may need to uninstall and reinstall your FactoryTalk software.
After spending hours experimenting with various solutions, I reached out to Rockwell for assistance, but they were unsure of a resolution. I discovered that updating to the September patch roll up, from my previous August 2023 version (ME version 13), successfully resolved the issue. Additionally, I noticed an October patch roll up available on their website. Another troubleshooting step is to repair your FactoryTalk Services Platform through Programs and Features in the Control Panel. If this does not fix the problem, and you have the latest patch roll up installed, you may need to uninstall and reinstall your FactoryTalk software. Thank you for sharing this information; I encountered a similar issue with firmware updates after upgrading to ME13. I will inform our IT team and update you on our findings.
It sounds like you're dealing with quite a frustrating situation! Have you tried checking if the ME Firmware Wizard is compatible with the version settings of both your HMI and the FactoryTalk project? Sometimes, rolling back to a previous version can create these types of compatibility issues. It might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the ME Firmware Wizard or ensuring you have the right permissions set on your Windows 10 machine. Also, it could help to double-check your tag definitions in the project, since a mismatch there can also hinder connections. I hope you find a resolution soon!
It sounds like you're in quite a bind! One thing to try is checking if the correct version of the RSLinx Classic software is installed, as it can affect tag recognition between versions. Also, when you reset your HMI to version 9, it might have caused some compatibility issues—make sure that your factory settings are defaulted for the correct version of the HMI software you want to run. Sometimes a clean installation of the ME Firmware Wizard can help. If you haven’t yet, also consider reaching out to Rockwell’s forum or user community; they can be a goldmine for troubleshooting similar issues. Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted out soon!
It sounds like you’ve been on quite the rollercoaster with your FactoryTalk setup! One thing you could try is double-checking the compatibility of your HMI version with the version of FactoryTalk you’re using; sometimes, mismatched versions can cause tag recognition issues. Also, have you looked into the possibility of manually importing your tags into the HMI project? It might be a bit more work, but it could help bridge the gap until you get the Firmware Wizard issue sorted out. Good luck!
