Since 1999, we have utilized MP2 6.0 w/SQL on our local network. While I inherited the setup of most of MP2, I took the initiative to configure Messenger to automatically email Weblink users about deleted work requests with comments. To ensure Messenger runs continuously, I installed it on another PC to operate in the background 24/7. However, after upgrading the hosting PC, I encounter a prompt from Microsoft Outlook every time a work request is deleted, asking for permission to send the email. The IT professional who previously resolved this issue cannot recall the solution, and Datastream no longer offers support for MP2. Our Exchange Server is version 5.5, service pack 4. I am unsure if this issue relates to MP2 or an Exchange setting. Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Since 1999, I have been utilizing MP2 6.0 with SQL on a local network. I inherited the setup for MP2, and also configured Messenger to automatically send emails to Weblink users for work requests. It seems like there may be an issue with the local machine - could this be due to XP? If it is, you may need to adjust the security settings on the machine to enable email sending and stop the pop-up box. If the issue is on the exchange server, it might require a more intricate solution.
It sounds like this issue might be due to security settings within Outlook rather than MP2 or your Exchange server. Outlook has a security feature which prevents automated emails - a feedback mechanism to prevent spam or malicious emails. Given you've recently upgraded your PC, itβs likely that some security settings were automatically set to higher levels during this process, thereby triggering this warning. Try looking into the Programmatic Access settings in your Trust Center. Remember to ensure you maintain a proper balance between automation and security.
It seems like you're dealing with an issue that arises when a program attempts to send an email on your behalf, which is a known security concern for Outlook. They implemented this feature to prevent malicious software from sending emails without your knowledge. One way to override this is by manipulating the registry to add your program to a safe senders list, but this method is quite risky and not recommended unless you're very familiar with the registry. As MP2 is a rather dated software and it's unsupported now, have you considered upgrading to another maintenance software? It might resolve your immediate issue and transition you to a more robust, supported system.
This sounds like an issue with the security settings on your new hosting PC's Outlook, rather than MP2 or Exchange Server. Microsoft introduced a feature in Outlook 2000 to prevent malicious scripts from sending mail without user's knowledge. You can bypass this by using ClickYes software, or by writing some code for it. A more complex solution would be programming a batch script that interfaces directly with SMTP on your Exchange server to send these notifications, bypassing Outlook completely. Check out the Microsoft's site for guidance on managing security or automation related to Outlook.
