Troubleshooting PLC Project Verification Issue: Transfer Setup Option Disabled

Question:

I am experiencing an issue while trying to verify a project using a PLC. The Transfer Setup option is disabled and when I attempt to verify with PLC, I receive an error indicating an invalid port selection. I am currently connected through Com 4. I distinctly remember the Transfer Setup option being functional as I have successfully uploaded files using this software in the past. If anyone has any suggestions or solutions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

If you are using a USB converter or a 232 board and experiencing driver issues on Windows 11, you may need to remove and reinstall the driver. This problem can often occur after Windows updates. Make sure your USB/232 chip driver is up to date for Windows 11 to avoid any compatibility issues. If you encounter the 'Transfer Setup' and 'Change PLC type' buttons greyed out in GX Developer, try deleting and reinstalling the driver. This issue may be related to how Windows 11 handles com ports differently from Windows 7. Visit www.plctalk.net for more troubleshooting tips.

I've experienced similar issues before - it might be that your PLC or connection cable is facing some issues. Try testing your hardware with another device if you can. Also, it could be due to your Computer's COM port settings. Go to your Device Manager, find the Ports (COM & LPT) section and try changing your COM port number. Sometimes, other services might be using the Port 4 causing a conflict. If it's software related, make sure you've got the latest updates or perhaps you might need to re-install it. Hopefully, one of these suggestions helps!

It sounds like the issue might be related to your COM port selection. Sometimes, even though you've successfully used a certain COM port before, it can become occupied or conflict with another service. I would recommend checking your Device Manager to see what ports are currently in use. Try changing the port number of your PLC connection or using a different port if available. Remember, after adjusting the port, you'll also need to modify the settings in your PLC software to match your new port setup. Hope this helps!

It seems like your PLC doesn't recognize the Com 4 as its communication port. This could be due to a variety of reasons like a driver issue or a port conflict in your system. Have you tried changing to a different COM port? The software sometimes defaults to the first available COM port which may not necessarily be the correct one. In your PLC software, look for anything related to serial port settings/communication setup. Also, verify that your PLC is properly connected and that no other devices are trying to use the same port. If the issue persists, you might need to reinstall or update your drivers. Good luck!
