Hello everyone, I currently own three Red Lion HMI's. While the calibration on the screens appears to be accurate, I am experiencing issues with the pop-up keypad when entering numeric values. The calibration seems to be off, requiring users to press the button slightly above and to the left of its actual position. Despite trying to recalibrate the screen multiple times, the issue persists and the calibration settings do not seem to make a difference. Has anyone else encountered this problem with their Red Lion HMI's? I have encountered this issue with newer units, as opposed to the older ones in my possession. Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bill.
Which HMI model and version of Crimson software are you currently utilizing for programming? Have you adjusted the keypad size in Crimson to a custom setting? While I personally haven't experienced this issue, I often opt for a larger keypad size like "Large" or "Larger" in my Crimson programs to improve usability for users with larger fingers.
Hi Bill, I've encountered a similar issue with my Red Lion HMI. What worked for me was to first disconnect the system, then after a short period, reconnect it, and immediately perform the calibration process. This might sound weird, but try utilizing a stylus or something similar during the calibration. Doing this seemed to improve the touch accuracy for me. It feels like the HMI responds better to a stylus-like point as opposed to a finger. Could be a sensitivity issue with the newer machines. Might be worth giving it a shot!
Hey Bill, I've encountered a similar issue with my Red Lion HMI. What fixed it for me was a firmware update - the response matrix for the touchscreen was reconfigured in a newer update, which corrected the calibration problems I was experiencing. Try checking to see if there are any updates available for your unit; it may solve your issue as it did mine. You might also want to check with their customer support if it still persists. Good luck!
Hi Bill, I can definitely relate to your frustration—I’ve run into similar issues with newer Red Lion HMIs too. It sounds like a persistent calibration issue, and sometimes it helps to check if there’s a firmware update available, as those can fix bugs like this. Another trick I’ve used is to perform a factory reset and then recalibrate while avoiding any environmental factors like screen protectors or direct sunlight during the process. If nothing seems to work, it might be worth reaching out to Red Lion's support team directly; they might have specific fixes or even known issues documented. Good luck!
