Hello everyone, I am currently utilizing a Siemens S7-300 CPU 314C-2 DP along with various I/O cards and servos. My laptop is equipped with TIA versions 16 and 17, both of which are operational. While working on a Step 7 project, I encountered .s7p files and attempted a migration process using version 16. Unfortunately, during the initial conversion, I forgot to add the hardware configuration, resulting in a message indicating errors in the conversion. After retrying with hardware conversion included, I received the error message "migrate project (0039:000010) an error occurred during the migration." I encountered difficulty in opening the migration.log file. Any insights on what might be causing this issue? I am currently lacking the Step 7 program. Thank you in advance for your assistance. - James
Are you looking to transfer your project to Tia in order to utilize a more advanced controller, or simply trying to connect to the 314c controller? According to the information provided in the following link, it seems that this particular model is only compatible with Step7 software. Visit SIOSsupport.industry.siemens.com for more details on compatibility.
After discovering the problem, it was determined that a log file was hidden. Unfortunately, one module cannot be migrated to versions 16 or 17 as it is not supported. The module in question is 6ES7 315-2AG10-0AB0 V2.0. We are currently exploring options for upgrading the firmware of the module to see if it is compatible with TIA versions 16 or 17. - James.
I am looking to upgrade to TIA Portal version 16 or 17 without having a Step 7 license. Can anyone help me with this migration process? - James
A few years back, I encountered an issue with upgrading our S7 software to run on Windows 7. After contacting our local supplier for advice, they recommended TIA software. However, we soon discovered that our S7 systems firmware was not compatible with TIA, allowing us to load the project but not make any changes. Upon reaching out to the supplier and Siemens, we were informed that Step7 Classic v 5.xx was needed for full compatibility. Unfortunately, we were unable to exchange the TIA software as the package had already been opened. We had to purchase the S7 V5.xx software to resolve the issue. It is important to note that older S7400/300 models may not be fully supported in TIA.
Hi James, it seems like the error code you're receiving typically indicates a conversion problem with the project itself rather than any hardware configuration issue. One possibility could be that some of the blocks in your S7 project are not fully compatible with TIA versions 16 and 17, causing some trouble during the migration process. Moreover, not having the original Step 7 program could be another potential issue as it might be preventing the software from filling in any missing parameters during the migration. If you can get the Step 7 program and are willing to give it a try, you might want to rerun the migration from there. Another option could be contacting Siemens support directly, as they may be able to offer some additional insights. Hope this helps and do let us know how you get on!
Hi James, it seems like you're dealing with quite a tricky situation here. Since you're having trouble with the migration process in TIA Portal V16, it might be worth trying to migrate the project using V17 instead, if you haven't already done so. I'd also suggest checking the compatibility of your Siemens S7-300 CPU with both versions of TIA. If all else fails, consider installing Step 7 to help with the migration process. What could have happened is that some program elements could not be converted due to the lack of necessary software components in your current setup.
Hi James! It sounds like you're dealing with a tricky migration process. The error youβre seeing often arises from incompatibilities between the older Step 7 project settings and the newer TIA Portal versions. Since you can't access the migration.log file, try checking for any specific details in the TIA Portal error logs; sometimes they provide additional context. You might also want to ensure that all your hardware and software components are fully compatible with the project youβre trying to migrate. If you haven't already, downloading the most recent software updates for TIA Portal could help, as they often include fixes for known issues. Good luck, and I hope you're able to get everything running smoothly!
