Troubleshooting Tag Database Access in InTouch 9.5

Question:

Good morning! Is anyone currently using InTouch 9.5? Have you encountered difficulties accessing the Tag database? I have noticed that when I try to select a tag from the Tagname Dictionary, the single tag editor window freezes, indicating that there may be an alert window popping up behind it. The only way to bring the single tag editor back to normal is by using Alt + F4. I have attempted to move the single tag screen before clicking on select, but it has not resolved the issue. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to proceed. Thank you.

I am sorry if this is against the rules, but I am facing the same problem with Intouch 17.2. As my tag database grew to around 1000 tags, I encountered difficulty in opening the select window, mirroring the issue raised by the original poster. This means I can only edit tags by manually selecting them one by one in alphabetical order, which becomes quite cumbersome with a large number of tags.

Have you attempted to restore the tag database? Enhance your database by rebuilding tags for better organization and efficiency.

bdossantos suggested trying to rebuild the tag database. I have explored this option and am wondering if there is a way to do so without starting a new project and transferring all data. While aware of the WWTagDBRepair tool, I am unable to locate it online as the websites it was previously available on appear to be inaccessible.

I believe that .BX files are the ones that are typically deleted when working with an Intouch app. It has been some time since I last worked on one, but you can safeguard your work by making a copy of the application and organizing it by file type. Remove any files labeled as backups, then recompile the application. This way, you can always revert back to the original if anything goes awry. As far as I can recall, version 9.5 was known to have some issues.

I encountered a similar problem while running a virtual machine (VM). When I activated a second monitor, I found that the window I was looking for was displayed there.

Hey there! I've experienced this issue with InTouch 9.5 before and I understand your frustration. What worked for me is running the application in Windowed mode instead of full screen. It seemed that the alert window was indeed behind the main application screen. Once I switched to windowed mode, I was able to access the alert window, which then allowed me to get back to my work without further disruption. I hope this helps and resolves your issue!

Hey there! I've been using InTouch 9.5 for a while now and I've also encountered this issue. There's a workaround that could help you. Try changing your screen resolution before opening the Tagname Dictionary. It seems to be an issue related to display detection. After you've selected the tag, just revert back to your former resolution. This worked for me, hope it helps you too!

Hi there! That freezing problem is quite common, I've experienced it myself. It seems to occur due to an error pop-up window hiding behind the Single Tag Editor. If you have dual monitors, try extending your desktop across both and keeping the Single Tag Editor on one and the Wonderware in the other. This way, if any error pop-up appears it'll likely be visible. If you're on a single monitor, try adjusting your screen resolution to see if the hidden window becomes visible. You may also want to check your system's background applications for any conflicts. Hope this helps!

Good morning! I’ve had a similar issue with InTouch 9.5 where the tag editor would freeze unexpectedly. One workaround that worked for me was to try adjusting the display settings of your monitor or running the software in compatibility mode. Also, make sure to check if there are any pending updates for the software, as sometimes bugs like this get resolved in newer versions. If all else fails, reaching out to the technical support team might be the best route, as they can provide more targeted assistance. Hope this helps!

Good morning! I haven't used InTouch 9.5 in a while, but I've faced similar issues with software freezing due to hidden alert windows. Have you tried checking your taskbar or using Alt + Tab to see if there's an alert dialog lurking beneath the single tag editor? Sometimes resizing or changing the display settings can help too. If that doesn’t work, you might want to look into any available patches or updates for the software, as these issues can sometimes be resolved with newer versions. Good luck!

Good morning! I haven't come across that exact issue with InTouch 9.5, but it sounds really frustrating. Have you tried checking for any software updates or patches? Sometimes, bugs like that can be fixed in newer versions. Also, consider adjusting your display settings or checking if there are any overlays or background processes that might be interfering with the Tagname Dictionary. It might be worth exploring forums or reaching out to support too; they might have specific fixes for that glitch. Good luck!
